Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed “border czar,” is already facing intense backlash. Known for his staunch enforcement of immigration laws, Homan has reportedly received a wave of death threats since his appointment was announced. The threats have become so severe that Homan says he has relocated his family for their safety.
In a recent interview on Fox News, Homan revealed the gravity of the situation. “I’ve been off the grid for three days,” he said, explaining that he had to turn off his phone to escape the barrage of calls and messages. “My family is not at home because the death threats have already started.” Despite the danger, Homan remains resolute. “They are not going to bully me away or shut me up,” he declared.
Homan, who served as acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from 2017 to 2018, has long been a polarizing figure. During his tenure, he aggressively pursued deportation policies, drawing praise from conservatives and harsh criticism from immigration advocates. His new role as border czar gives him sweeping oversight of Trump’s immigration agenda—without requiring Senate confirmation.
According to Trump’s aides, Homan’s appointment is a strategic move to reaffirm the administration’s commitment to border security. The Wall Street Journal notes that Homan will have significant influence over policies that were central to Trump’s campaign and his re-election victory. Ron Vitiello, Homan’s successor as acting ICE director, underscored the importance of the role. “There’s no question that Tom Homan will bring the implied authority of the president,” Vitiello said. “No one’s gonna wonder.”
However, with that authority comes heightened scrutiny and danger. Homan’s tough stance on immigration has made him a target. The threats he’s received reflect the deep divisions in the U.S. over immigration policy, an issue that has long been a flashpoint in American politics.
Homan’s hardline approach contrasts sharply with the strategies of his predecessor in the informal role, former Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris focused on addressing the “root causes” of migration, such as poverty and violence in Central America. Homan, however, prioritizes enforcement and border security, a stance that has won him both staunch allies and fierce enemies.
The threats against Homan highlight the intensity of opposition to Trump’s immigration policies. Advocacy groups and progressive politicians have condemned the administration’s approach, arguing that it exacerbates humanitarian crises at the border and targets vulnerable populations.
Yet, Homan’s supporters argue that strict enforcement is necessary to maintain national security and uphold the rule of law. They see his appointment as a signal that the Trump administration is doubling down on its immigration agenda.
Despite the threats, Homan remains committed to his mission. “This isn’t about politics; it’s about protecting our country,” he said on Fox News. His determination reflects a broader resolve within the administration to push forward with its immigration policies, even in the face of intense opposition.
The role of border czar is critical as the U.S. grapples with ongoing challenges at its southern border. Record numbers of migrants have attempted to cross into the U.S., straining resources and prompting calls for action. Trump has pledged to address these issues head-on, with Homan at the helm.
Homan’s appointment is likely to reignite fierce debates over immigration policy. Critics argue that strict enforcement alone won’t solve the underlying problems driving migration. They advocate for comprehensive reform, including pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
Supporters, however, believe that robust enforcement is a necessary first step. They point to the need for secure borders and the enforcement of immigration laws as fundamental to national sovereignty.
As Homan steps into his new role, he faces not only the challenges of policy implementation but also personal risk. The threats against him and his family underscore the high stakes of his work. Yet, Homan remains undeterred, viewing his role as essential to the nation’s security.
“The threats are serious, but so is my commitment to this country,” Homan said. “We need to enforce our laws and secure our borders. That’s what I’ve always done, and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”
With immigration set to remain a contentious issue, Homan’s tenure as border czar will undoubtedly be closely watched. Whether he can navigate the challenges ahead and deliver on Trump’s promises will be a key test for the administration’s immigration agenda. For now, Homan stands firm, ready to face whatever comes his way.

n unnamed FBI spokesperson stated: “Although the death threats against Homan and his family are serious, they are mostly peaceful.”
ANY death threat is SERIOUS! Peaceful? You need to change your employment. Homan had to MOVE HIS FAMILY and you say, “mostly peaceful?” Is that what the FBI thinks or just you? Sad and scary!!!
For 4 years the leftist stooges in the DOJ and FBI have been fixated on the myth of vast right wing extremism and Christian extremism while completely ignoring the illegal activity associated with open borders. Hopefully the incoming administration will actually do something about leftist violence, starting with incarceration and deportation, instead of going after their political opponents and infiltrating Catholic churches.
“….immigration advocates….” “Immigration advocates?” These ‘immigration advocates’ are anti-Americans and would have America become Venezuela, or some other 3d World example of a NON-FUNCTIONING country! Round them all up and deport them to any other 2nd rate ‘Banana Republic’ they would have America become. Or, perhaps, better, round them all up and ship them to that ‘terrorist’ holding facility in Cuba. As John Stossel would say, “GIVE ME A BREAK.” BTW, Homan should rate at least a minimum of Secret Service protection.
First, since it is illegal to enter this country without going through the US process the right way, all of these illegals, should be rounded up and deported, and for those who are threatening the US government with death threats, maybe President Trump should open department specifically to hunt down those who use terroristic death threats and charge them with treason, as it is a felony. If they are so opposed to the immigration laws they should be considered as an enemy to the US. I do not oppose people coming to the US, but they are required to go through the legal process to become a citizen, which does include a process already on the books.
AMEN, ROBERT!!!! Well said.
The FBI needs to INVESTiGATE how the DOXING started and to make arrests and convictions under Federal law. Should a GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE or actor be involved it is 18 USC 241 and 18 USC 242 that need to be charged, 15 years more or less. This include FBI and all government agencies and actors
