Texas Football Player Claims He Took Recruits to Strip Club During DWI Arrest, Authorities Report

A University of Texas football player, Nick Brooks, found himself in a bit of hot water last week when he was arrested for driving while under the influence. The offensive lineman, who is just starting his college career, was reportedly caught driving 47 mph in a 30-mph zone. According to the Travis County police report, Brooks’ eyes were described as “bloodshot” and “watery,” and he admitted to having smoked a “blunt” and using a “good” THC pen, saying he was definitely “feeling it.”

Brooks, who is only 18 years old, mentioned to the police that he had just left a place called “Play,” which he claimed makes exceptions for University of Texas football players, even though it’s a 21-and-over venue. He also told the officers that he was on his way to take “two prospective players” to a nearby strip club. The police noted that his speech was “mumbled” and “mushmouthed,” and observed that he was “swaying” and experiencing “body tremors.” However, they did mention that his demeanor was “polite” and “cooperative,” and there was no alcohol detected in his system.

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the situation by releasing a statement. He said, “We’re aware of the situation with Nick Brooks, have talked with him and are gathering information. We will continue to monitor the legal process and address this situation within the team at the appropriate time.”

Brooks, who was a four-star recruit, committed to Texas back in August. He enrolled in January after finishing his time at Grayson High School in Georgia. Brooks had been quite a sought-after player, receiving offers from 28 other schools.

His recruitment journey involved official visits to Texas, Georgia, Iowa, and USC. The incident comes as an unexpected hiccup in what was shaping up to be a promising start to his college football career.

The Texas Longhorns have a proud tradition on the field, and incidents like these are certainly not what the team or its fans want to see. As for Brooks, this could be a learning moment as he navigates the responsibilities that come with being a student-athlete.

The legal process will continue to unfold, and the team will likely make decisions based on how things develop. For now, Brooks’ future with the Longhorns remains uncertain as the situation is still being assessed by the team and legal authorities.

It’s a reminder that athletes, especially those in the spotlight, have to make wise choices, both on and off the field. This incident has caught the attention of sports fans and the general public, who will be watching closely to see how it all plays out.
