Pentagon Confirms Fort Hood Terrorist Execution Will Be Livestreamed

The Pentagon has confirmed that the planned firing squad execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed, a step that puts one of the military’s most severe punishments in the public eye. The move comes as officials prepare for a rare event that has not happened in more than six decades, with the execution scheduled for Dec. 3 at Fort Hood, Texas.

Officials kept the wording tight when asked about the broadcast. “It will be livestreamed. Details will follow,” a War Department official told Fox News Digital, signaling that the military intends to make the proceedings visible without spilling every logistical detail ahead of time.

Hasan, a former Army major, was convicted in 2013 after the deadly 2009 attack at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead and 32 others wounded. He had opened fire on unarmed soldiers and civilians after shouting “Allahu Akbar,” turning a normal day on base into a scene of chaos and horror.

The decision to use an Army firing squad came after President Donald Trump approved the method, following a recommendation from War Secretary Pete Hegseth. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell had already signaled the administration’s hard line on the case when he wrote on X, “Judgment day for Hasan has finally come.”

The execution, if carried out as planned, would mark the first military execution since 1961 and the first by firing squad since 1945. That alone makes the case stand out, not just for its legal outcome but for the unusual way it will be carried out and presented.

Hasan is currently held on military death row at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where the final phase of the case has been moving forward under close scrutiny. The livestream decision means this long-running military justice case is no longer staying behind closed doors, and the attention around it is only going to grow as the date gets closer.
