In a case that has captured the nation’s attention, the defense team of former President Donald Trump rested their case on Tuesday in his hush-money trial.
While the jury is scheduled to return in a week for closing arguments, Trump’s lawyers are pushing for the case to be dismissed before then.
The trial centers around allegations that Trump paid hush money to two women who claimed they had affairs with him before he became president.
The prosecution has accused Trump of breaking campaign finance laws by arranging payments through his former lawyer Michael Cohen. However, from the start, Trump has maintained his innocence and called the charges “baseless.”
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Trump touted his defense team and expressed confidence in their ability to win this case. “I have the best lawyers and we have won this case already,” he said. “It’s all just a witch hunt by the Democrats and their allies in the media.”
Trump also praised his legal team for their performance during the trial, saying they have “shredded” the prosecution’s arguments. “They have shown that there is no evidence against me and that this is just another attempt by my enemies to bring me down,” he added.
But despite Trump’s confidence, his lawyers are not taking any chances.
They have filed a motion to dismiss the case altogether based on lack of evidence and flawed legal reasoning.
In their motion, Trump’s defense team argued that there was no proof that any payments were made with illegal intent or using campaign funds.
They also pointed out inconsistencies in witness testimonies and highlighted discrepancies in financial records presented by the prosecution.
One of Trump’s lawyers, John H. Durham, stated that the case against his client was built on “speculation and innuendo.” He also accused the prosecution of being politically motivated and using this trial as a means to attack Trump.
The defense team has also argued that even if there was any wrongdoing on Trump’s part, it does not amount to a criminal offense.
They cited a similar case involving former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, who was found not guilty of violating campaign finance laws in a similar situation.
In their motion to dismiss, Trump’s lawyers have urged the judge to end this “political witch hunt” and protect the rights of an innocent man.
They have also called for all charges against Trump to be dropped and for him to be exonerated.

While the decision ultimately lies with Judge Merchan, who is presiding over the trial, many are hopeful that justice will prevail and that Trump will be cleared of all charges.

If he does it will open the door for a federal charge. That is the reason for the weekend off to confer with the
DO of Injustice.
Former FEC chairman Bradley Smith says that campaign finance law was not violated because tne NDA was not related to the campaign. Cohen admitts to his own involvement,, and Weisselberg says that he made the arrangements withwCohen. Neither offered testimony of Trump’s involvement.
No crime ! No evidence of the defendant’s involvement. Jabba has/had bupkis.
You watch Judge Merchan’s face when the jury declares Trump not guilty. The gears will be turning in his brain to try to overturn the jury’s decision.
I want to know how a lawyer in a black robe can allow ANY case to be brought in to their court when a CHARGE hasn’t even been made, YET! There is NO applicable state statute that fits the current narrative.
