President Donald Trump has officially named tech magnate Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to head the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Though not an official government agency, DOGE will serve as an advisory board tasked with reshaping the federal government’s approach to spending and efficiency.
In a statement on Wednesday, Trump praised the pair:
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”
Musk and Ramaswamy aren’t wasting time. Shortly after Trump’s announcement, the new leaders of DOGE posted a recruitment call on X (formerly Twitter), seeking what they described as “super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries.”
Their message was clear: DOGE needs individuals who are ready to roll up their sleeves and work tirelessly on unglamorous but crucial cost-cutting measures.
“We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV,” read a post from the official DOGE account.
The duo promised to personally review the top 1% of applications, emphasizing their high standards for the team they are assembling.
Despite its playful name—a nod to the popular doge meme often referenced by Musk—DOGE is designed for serious work. According to Trump, the commission will operate as an independent advisory body, providing the administration with reports and recommendations on improving government efficiency.
DOGE’s mission includes:
- Dismantling government bureaucracy
- Slashing excess regulations
- Cutting wasteful expenditures
- Restructuring federal agencies
The project has a clear timeline. Trump expects the commission to complete its work by July 4, 2026, a symbolic date marking America’s 250th Independence Day. However, Musk expressed confidence that the task could be accomplished much sooner.
“We’ll be done much faster,” Musk stated in a post on X.
The DOGE initiative is ambitious, aiming to shake up entrenched systems and challenge the status quo in Washington. It also represents a continuation of Trump’s longstanding promise to “drain the swamp” and streamline government operations.
This isn’t the first time Trump has tapped high-profile outsiders to bring fresh perspectives to government. But DOGE, led by two outspoken figures known for their critiques of bloated systems, stands out as a bold experiment in leveraging private-sector expertise to tackle public-sector inefficiencies.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has a track record of innovation and efficiency, transforming industries like electric vehicles and space travel. His penchant for pushing boundaries aligns with the radical cost-cutting mission of DOGE.
Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate, rose to prominence with his calls for reducing government overreach and fostering a pro-business environment. His political acumen and private-sector experience make him a natural fit for the role.
Together, Musk and Ramaswamy bring a mix of technical expertise and policy insight, making them well-suited to lead this high-stakes initiative.
DOGE’s creation marks a significant step in Trump’s second-term agenda. By leveraging the insights of private-sector leaders like Musk and Ramaswamy, the administration hopes to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in federal operations.
However, the initiative is not without its critics. Some have raised concerns about the lack of accountability and oversight for a non-governmental body wielding such influence. Others argue that DOGE’s ambitious goals may be overly optimistic, given the deeply entrenched nature of federal bureaucracy.
Despite the skepticism, DOGE has already generated significant public interest. Thousands of Americans have responded to the call for resumes, eager to join what could become a transformative effort to reshape the government.
Whether DOGE succeeds in delivering on its lofty promises remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: with Musk and Ramaswamy at the helm, it won’t be business as usual in Washington.
For those bold enough to take on the challenge, DOGE offers a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact on the federal government. If you think you have what it takes, the clock is ticking—resumes are being reviewed now.

I AM SO PLEASED WITH THIS NEW AGENCY–SORELY NEEDED….I only wish I was younger and would love to add to their activities…I’ve am known to be a good money manager and that is so sorely needed…I’ve talked a lot in the last 30+ yrs of the vital necessity of cutting waste and getting the National Debt tamed and even gone…The largest biggest and best country should be known for positive things, not known by the size of it’s National Debt.
