A freelance video engineer calling himself Armitas has handed Congress a 26-page report that raises big questions about how the pipe-bomb episodes on Jan. 5 and 6 were handled. His work leans into an ugly possibility: this case might be less about lone bad actors and more about a staged event. Armitas spent more than a year dissecting every frame, every camera angle, and the timing around the two devices found near the Democratic National Committee and the Capitol Hill Club. His findings claim widespread video manipulation, contradictory physical evidence, and odd behavior from law-enforcement teams on the ground. Those are not small errors; they point to deliberate obfuscation if his analysis is right.

Armitas told Congress he worked with an FBI special agent on a forensic re-examination, and he submitted the report to Rep. Barry Loudermilk’s subcommittee. His core charge: the DNC footage released by the FBI was down-sampled, cropped, and otherwise altered, which makes reliable identification of the suspect nearly impossible. If true, that manipulation undermines the integrity of the evidence the public has been shown.

He concludes the original high-definition DNC feed was changed from 16:9 to 4:3 and the frame rate was heavily reduced, masking subtle but critical motions. Armitas also points out that two camera views shown in an FBI map video are out of sync by about 15 seconds, a gap big enough to change context. “The DNC video has been doctored so much and so hard that it is no longer representative of events in real time,” he wrote.

The physical state of the DNC device is another puzzle in his report: he says the pipe bomb’s profile is rotated between when the suspect set it down and when it was discovered the next day. The reaction described feels more like damage control than an urgent threat response. For a protective service that must act instantly, the sluggish conduct looks impossible to square with a genuine bomb threat scenario.

Turning to the Capitol Hill Club device, Armitas maps a pattern of route choices and camera blind spots that look planned to avoid public cameras. The suspect allegedly took a short path through Rumsey Court and planted the second device behind trash bins where discovery by coincidence seems unlikely. Armitas writes that someone had to be waiting to report it for the timing to align with official narratives.

His reconstruction of movements between 7:34 p.m. Jan. 5 and the afternoon of Jan. 6 reads like a choreography: lookouts, handoffs, a retrieval, and a re-placement timed so authorities would find the devices at chosen moments. At 7:46 p.m. a Capitol Police officer parked and entered Longworth for hours, a detail that Armitas bolsters with CCTV evidence that includes a token embed in the timeline:

Other technical claims matter too: Armitas says a subset of cellphone data in the FBI’s geofence warrant was corrupted and that FirstNet, the network used by first responders, “crashed their server and corrupted the data.” He notes the only usable records ended up belonging to law-enforcement devices, which raises obvious questions about the completeness of the digital trail. If civilian data disappeared while responder logs remained, the evidentiary picture narrows to the official class of devices.

The ultimate charge Armitas floats is uncomfortable but blunt: this looks less like a solved criminal puzzle and more like an engineered narrative that benefited certain official actors.
