House Dems Plan Trump Probe Blitz If They Win Majority

House Democrats are already sketching out a hard-charging oversight plan for the moment they control the chamber. The focus is clear: Trump, his administration, and the people around him would land squarely in the crosshairs, with hearings, document requests, and possible impeachment talk all in play.

That push is tied to the midterm landscape, where control of Congress could flip again and hand Democrats the gavel. Republicans have reason to take the threat seriously, especially since Washington history shows the party outside the White House often gets a boost in those elections.

Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado made the outlook plain when he pointed first to the Pentagon. He said service members are being put at risk by “corruption, there’s incompetence, there is nepotism at the DoD,” and argued that defense spending tied to Trump-linked interests deserves close scrutiny.

Crow also signaled that Democrats are not limiting themselves to routine oversight. He said there are multiple “tools” Congress can use, and he did not shut the door on impeachment if leaders decide it fits the evidence and the political moment.

That language matters because it shows how quickly a Democratic majority could turn into a pressure campaign. Impeachment has already been floated in different forms over the last two years, but the broader caucus has not fully rallied behind it, at least not yet.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has been careful when asked about that route. He has kept some distance from the loudest demands, but his lieutenants are already mapping out what comes first if the chamber flips.

Rep. Robert Garcia of California, who is positioned to lead the House Oversight Committee, said he is already working with Judiciary leader Jamie Raskin on possible probes. His list was wide-ranging and unmistakably aggressive, stretching from Trump family finances to immigration enforcement and public health agencies.

Garcia said, “One is going to be the Trump family corruption. The second will be the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Third will be ICE and DHS and the corruption happening there,” and he added that lawmakers would also look at corporations, CEOs, and what he described as damage to the vaccination process and Robert Kennedy Jr.

Raskin has already been laying groundwork of his own, sending requests for information about Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr., and FBI Director Kash Patel, among others. He framed the effort as a broad sweep for evidence, promising to keep pushing until the committee gets answers.

“The Trump family has turned the entire executive branch into a money-making enterprise, so there’s more than enough corruption and lawlessness to keep Democrats across the House busy for years. Judiciary Democrats are already following the evidence wherever it leads, from the Trump family’s astonishing self-dealing and conflicts of interest to the corporations and law firms that have colluded with this administration for profit, advantage and protection,” Raskin told Fox News Digital when asked about his plans.

“We will continue to work together across committees and use every investigative and legislative tool we have to uncover the facts, expose the wrongdoing and its costs for the public, hold the perpetrators and profiteers accountable, and pass legislative cures.”

The message from Democrats is not subtle. They see corruption as the opening move, but they are leaving the door open to much bigger fights if they gain power, which means Trump’s second-term agenda could run straight into a wall of subpoenas and hearings.

Republicans, for their part, are already bracing for a slowdown in Washington if Democrats retake either chamber. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has warned that impeachment could be among the first moves, while Trump continues to reject the accusations aimed at him and his family.

That sets up a familiar Capitol Hill collision, with one side preparing to govern and the other preparing to investigate. The next House majority could spend a lot more time in hearing rooms than on passing legislation, and the early signs suggest Democrats are ready to make that their opening act.
