Apple has just unveiled the Apple Watch Series 11, which retains a familiar look while being the slimmest model yet. This latest version introduces exciting features, including 5G cellular connectivity and a more durable glass design.
The Series 11 marks a significant leap as it becomes the first Apple Watch to support 5G. It boasts a redesigned cellular antenna that promises better coverage, especially in areas where signal strength is lacking.
In addition to its connectivity upgrades, the Series 11 will also offer live translation capabilities, similar to the recently launched AirPods Pro 3. Another groundbreaking feature is its ability to monitor hypertension, or high blood pressure, using the watch’s optical heart rate sensor.
This hypertension feature operates in the background, analyzing data collected over a month. By employing a new algorithm, it can detect potential signs of high blood pressure without requiring users to take specific assessments.
Sleep tracking gets an upgrade as well, with the introduction of a new sleep score feature. This tool evaluates factors like duration and sleep stages to give users a clearer picture of their sleep quality.
Apple claims that the Series 11 will deliver “up to 24 hours” of battery life, providing users with reliable, all-day use. The aluminum models will be available in colors like jet black, space gray, rose gold, and silver.
For those interested in a more premium option, the polished titanium version will come in natural, gold, and slate finishes. The watch features Ion-X glass, which Apple touts as being twice as scratch-resistant as its predecessor due to a special ceramic coating.
Pricing for the Series 11 starts at $399 for the GPS-only 42mm version, matching the entry price of the Apple Watch Series 10. Customers can begin preordering today, with shipping set to start on September 19th.
Launching alongside the watch is watchOS 26, the newest update to Apple’s smartwatch software. This update introduces new features, including a wrist-flick gesture for dismissing calls and notifications, along with an improved Smart Stack and personalized insights through the Workout Buddy feature.
