Amazfit Is Owned By Zepp Health, Not Amazon

  • Amazfit and Amazon are not the same company.
  • Zepp Health is the actual owner behind the Amazfit brand.
  • The brand history connects back to Huami and a later rebrand.
  • Amazfit’s watches run on Zepp OS and use the Zepp app.
  • The lineup spans budget, performance, and rugged wearables.
  • Zepp Health also operates other wellness-focused brands.

Amazfit has a name that sounds close enough to Amazon to spark plenty of confusion, but the two have nothing to do with each other. The smartwatch brand belongs to Zepp Health, a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. That makes the ownership story a lot less mysterious than the name might suggest.

The mix-up is easy to understand. “Amazfit” sounds like it could be an Amazon fitness line, and plenty of shoppers have made that assumption at first glance. But the branding only works as a coincidence, not as a corporate tie.

Zepp Health has deeper roots than the Amazfit name itself. The company started in 2013 under the name Huami Corp and later changed its identity to Zepp Health Corporation in February 2021. Its mission has stayed focused on health, fitness, and wellness tech, with wearable devices at the center of the business.

There are also a few built-in clues if the packaging is checked more closely. Amazfit watches run Zepp OS, and the companion smartphone app is simply called Zepp. Those details make the ownership chain a little easier to spot for anyone paying attention.

Amazfit itself launched in 2015 as Zepp Health’s consumer wearables brand. From the start, it was built to compete in the smartwatch and fitness tracker market rather than to serve as a side project or a logo exercise. The brand has grown into one of the company’s most visible arms.

Its lineup is broad, and that variety is part of the appeal. The Bip series is aimed at users who want simple, affordable basics, while the Active and Cheetah lines lean toward runners and more performance-driven buyers. For people who want something tougher, the T-Rex series brings a rugged design that looks ready for rough treatment.

The Balance series sits a little higher up the stack and offers more features than the most budget-friendly models. That range gives Amazfit a surprisingly wide footprint, especially for shoppers trying to balance price and capability. It also helps the brand stay visible in a field crowded with bigger names.

The company’s hardware has earned some real attention, too. The Amazfit Balance 2 landed among the top-rated smartwatches from Consumer Reports, and the T-Rex 3 Pro has been singled out as one of the few watches with stronger ratings than Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8. That kind of recognition gives the brand more weight than a casual glance at the name might imply.

Amazfit is not limited to watches either. Zepp Health also makes smart rings and fitness trackers, though the smartwatch lineup remains its strongest and most recognizable category. Beyond wearables, the company has spread into adjacent wellness products through Zepp Clarity, which focuses on hearing aid devices, and Zepp Aura, which is positioned as a rest and wellness service.

The bigger picture is pretty straightforward: Amazfit is one of Zepp Health’s main consumer brands, not an offshoot of Amazon. It has its own identity, its own software ecosystem, and its own market position. For anyone picking up an Amazfit device, the real story is not about e-commerce, but about a health-tech company that has spent years building a serious wearable platform.
