California Bill Recognizing Two Islamic Holidays Nears Newsom’s Desk

California is on the verge of adding two major Islamic holidays to its official calendar, a move that would give state workers more room to observe them and open the door for public schools to close in recognition. The proposal has sailed through the Assembly with only one vote against it, and now it is sitting in the Senate with the clock ticking.

Assembly Bill 2017 would formally recognize Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in state law. If it clears the Senate before the session wraps up, the measure could land on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk for final approval.

The bill is straightforward in its goals, but the policy reach is broad. State employees would be able to use existing paid holiday credits to take time off for Eid, while public schools and community colleges could also shut down for the observance.

Supporters say the idea is simple fairness for Muslim families who have long had to juggle work, class, and faith. Democratic Assemblymember Matt Haney, who introduced the bill, has framed it as a matter of basic dignity and equal treatment, especially for students who should not have to choose between the classroom and a holy day.

That message has been repeated by advocates who say the state has already made room for other cultural and religious observances. California has recognized holidays such as Lunar New Year and Diwali, and supporters argue that Eid belongs in the same conversation.

The two holidays at the center of the bill carry deep meaning in ইসলামic tradition. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting from dawn to sunset, while Eid al-Adha commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.

For many Muslim families, these days are not just symbolic. They are moments built around prayer, meals, gifts, and time together, which is why backers of the bill say official recognition matters in everyday life, not just on paper.

Opposition has not focused on the holidays themselves so much as on how the bill would affect public schools. The California Family Council, a conservative Christian group, says it supports giving students time off for religious holidays but objects to language that would allow schools to hold exercises celebrating the meaning of Eid.

That group also takes issue with a provision that would let the State Board of Education develop a model curriculum guide for those exercises. Its argument is that public schools should not be writing lesson plans that celebrate one faith’s holidays while similar treatment has not been extended to Christmas, Easter, Good Friday, or Jewish holidays.

Those concerns have added another layer to a debate that is already familiar in California politics, where religion, education, and government boundaries often collide. Even with the strong Assembly vote, the Senate still has to finish the job, and that makes the final days of the session especially important.

In practical terms, the bill would give Muslim state workers a clearer path to observe Eid without using unpaid leave or making awkward tradeoffs. It would also create a bigger public acknowledgment of the holidays, something supporters say has been missing for too long in a state with one of the largest Muslim populations in the country.

California would not be first to move in this direction. Washington already recognizes the Eid holidays, though supporters of the California bill say this proposal goes further by allowing paid holiday credits for state employees, not just unpaid time off.

As the measure edges closer to the governor’s desk, it has become more than a holiday bill. It is now part of a larger fight over how much room public institutions should give to faith, how far accommodation should go, and which traditions get treated like they belong in the center of civic life.

Islam is Totally Antithetical to Christianity and America! That SOB Satan serving human devil Newsom along with all those promoting such a evil bill are serving Satan! Just by the fact that Islam isn’t even a valid true religion from God but is only a False Religion Political Ideology that Muhammad admitted he started when he spoke with Satan in the desert! It all has nothing to do with America and has no business even being here!
Here is a new bill for Y’all to push; Cancel all Islamist’s in America!

The following statements are highly accurate and actually proven. “In 632, only months before he died, Muhammad apparently met for the first time with a Christian community as such. An official delegation of Christians, probably led by a bishop, came to Mecca from Najran in Yemen. After engaging the Christians in discussion, the Prophet is said to have realized that Christian teachings are indeed incompatible with Islam, after which the revelation followed that only Islam is acceptable to God as a religion. The Quran also says very specifically that those who refer to Jesus as God are blasphemers, and that Christians saying that Christ is the son of God is an imitation of Jews, who earlier had said that Ezra is the son of God. According to the Quran Jesus was only a servant; Jesus the son of Mary was no more than an apostle of God. Quranic verses dealing with Jesus’ death have been interpreted differently by commentators, but generally they have been taken to mean that Jesus did not die by crucifixion. For Christians the Quran has thus served as a denial of Jesus’ incarnation and death on the cross and of the reality of the Trinity.” (Oxford University Press)

These two points alone put Islam and the Muslims completely at odds with Jesus Christ and all Christians and are the enemies of such! Muhammad himself began this conflict and was the spoiler and Heretic directly attacking God’s plan as foretold by all the previous prophets going all the way back to Abraham. Things have been in conflict because of Muhammad ever since and are getting worse. In Summary Muslims are in complete denial of what Jesus Christ said and who He was which makes them Anti-Christ and supportive of the Devil and all that is unholy. Basically Muhammad started this Blasphemy back in 632 AD and outright declared War on Christendom!

Out National Holidays are based on Foundational Tenets of America and our Constitution that have nothing to do with Islam or Muslims! Leave America and go to a place where they live in accordance with those beliefs!
