Trump, Rubio Weigh Ousting Guilfoyle Amid Misconduct Claims

Kimberly Guilfoyle is facing a fast-moving political storm as allegations pile up around her time as U.S. ambassador to Greece. Reports tying her to a possible donor bailout, access-for-favors concerns, and workplace misconduct have put her future in doubt, while Donald Trump and Marco Rubio are said to be weighing what to do next.

The biggest jolt came from a claim that Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor to cover a six-figure credit card bill while offering a path to senior administration figures. That alone would be plenty damaging, but the scrutiny widened quickly when more stories surfaced about her behavior in Athens and the atmosphere around her office.

According to reporting cited in the controversy, Trump and Rubio are furious over the situation and may move soon. No decision has been announced yet, but officials expect action could come quickly, especially after the Columbus Day holiday window closes.

The financial allegation centers on a $100,000 American Express bill and messages that allegedly showed Guilfoyle asking donor Eric Deters to wire money directly. The reported pitch, with talk of avoiding a paper trail and helping him get access to top officials, turned the story from awkward to explosive in a hurry.

Guilfoyle’s attorney has rejected the authenticity of those messages, pushing back hard against the accusation. Still, the issue landed at a bad time, with public pressure building and the gossip cycle churning through Washington at full speed.

That was not the only front. Earlier reporting also accused Guilfoyle of using her diplomatic role in ways that benefited a Greek construction and energy company and of allowing a lobbyist close access to private meetings. Even more damaging, she was described as suggesting that the United States could undercut the Greek government during a dinner conversation, though Greek officials later downplayed the episode.

Separate claims about the embassy environment made the whole picture look worse. An inspector general review reportedly looked at complaints involving employee treatment, private travel, gifts, and ties to business interests, while other accounts described a tense workplace where staff members feared getting on the wrong side of the ambassador.

Some of the alleged behavior had a bizarre edge that made it hard to ignore. Reports claimed she threatened workers, downgraded members of her security detail over small grievances, and even took issue with an officer who did not respond to a 4 a.m. request for ice while she was on vacation in Mykonos.

The pushback has been sharp, but so has the criticism. Democratic lawmakers have called for review, and some have said she should be removed if the allegations hold up, giving the matter a bipartisan headache that is hard for the White House to shrug off.

Vice President JD Vance has tried to slow the rush to judgment, saying the facts should come first and consequences should follow only if wrongdoing is proven. That stance has bought some breathing room, but it has not made the story go away, especially with more reporters digging in.

Rubio has also taken a defensive line without addressing every allegation head-on. He called Guilfoyle a strong ambassador and dismissed the idea that every sourced report should be treated as truth on arrival, a message that sounded more like damage control than a clean exoneration.

The personal angle is impossible to miss either. Guilfoyle was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr., and her rise to the diplomatic post came after a long run as a prosecutor, television personality, and Trump-world loyalist. That history gives the whole episode an extra jolt, because it is not just about a troubled posting abroad, but about someone who has lived inside the Trump orbit for years.

Now the pressure is on whether the administration treats this as a temporary embarrassment or a real breaking point. With public accusations growing louder and insiders clearly uneasy, Guilfoyle’s position looks shakier by the day, and the next move in Washington may say a lot about how much baggage the White House is willing to carry.
