Tom Homan Vows to Shut Down Darien Gap and Tackle Illegal Immigration

The southern border of the United States has long been a focal point of political debate and public concern. As President-elect Donald Trump prepares for his return to the White House, his choice for border czar, Tom “The Hammer” Homan, is making waves with his bold and decisive plans to address illegal immigration.

In a one-on-one interview with NBC News at the U.S. southern border, Homan revealed that shutting down the Darien Gap—a perilous jungle corridor in Panama that serves as a major route for migrants heading north—is among his top priorities.

“It needs to happen,” Homan said firmly. “Shutting down the Darien Gap is going to protect our national security. It’s going to save thousands of lives.”

The Darien Gap, a treacherous stretch of wilderness, is a key chokepoint for migrants from South America making their way to the U.S. border. By targeting this region, Homan hopes to drastically reduce the flow of migrants at its source.

Homan’s plan involves diplomatic pressure on Colombia and Panama to clamp down on crossings. While he acknowledged that direct U.S. military intervention is off the table due to jurisdictional constraints, Homan suggested that President Trump’s knack for negotiating with foreign leaders could play a pivotal role.

“We can’t deploy troops in a foreign country, but we can push for cooperation. Trump knows how to apply the right kind of pressure to get results,” Homan stated.

This strategy, while ambitious, underscores the incoming administration’s focus on addressing illegal immigration not just at the U.S. border but throughout the migratory route.

Homan, who previously served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Trump’s first term, also addressed plans for mass deportations. He confirmed that the administration would resume workplace raids and collateral arrests.

“Collateral arrests”—detaining undocumented immigrants without criminal records who are discovered during ICE operations—will be a critical part of this effort.

“We’re going to do it in a smart way,” Homan explained. “We’re still working on how exactly we want to roll this out, but [work site] operations have to come back because it’s the No. 1 place we find victims of forced labor being run by many cartels.”

By targeting workplaces, Homan aims to dismantle the underground labor market that attracts illegal immigrants. He also emphasized that this approach will address human trafficking and forced labor.

Homan highlighted that addressing illegal immigration requires more than enforcement; it also demands legislative reform. Employers who hire undocumented workers exacerbate the problem, and Homan made it clear that they would face consequences under the new administration.

“There’s no excuse for employing people who are here illegally,” Homan said. “It’s time to close that loophole.”

With public sentiment heavily favoring stricter immigration controls, Homan expressed confidence that Congress would provide the necessary funding and legislative support to achieve these goals.

“I think the American people have spoken,” he said. “This is the No. 1 issue. They went to the voting booth. Congress is paying attention. They’ll give us the money to do this job.”

As Homan wrapped up the interview, he delivered a stark message to those living in the U.S. illegally:

“Go home.”

The border czar’s blunt warning leaves no room for misinterpretation. Under the incoming administration, undocumented immigrants will face two choices: return voluntarily or be deported.

Homan’s approach has drawn both praise and criticism. Supporters view his plans as a long-overdue effort to restore order to a chaotic system. Opponents, however, argue that these measures could lead to widespread fear and hardship among immigrant communities.

The Trump administration’s renewed focus on immigration enforcement is likely to ignite intense debates. By targeting the Darien Gap and emphasizing workplace raids, Homan is signaling a comprehensive strategy to address illegal immigration at every level.

His plan, while ambitious, hinges on cooperation from foreign governments, legislative backing, and significant funding. Whether these goals can be realized remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Tom Homan is determined to leave no stone unturned in his mission to secure the border.

As Homan put it, “It’s not so much about illegal immigration. It’s about national security.”

The coming months will reveal how these policies unfold and whether they will succeed in curbing illegal immigration. For now, one thing is clear: the incoming administration is gearing up for a hardline stance on border control, and Tom Homan is at the forefront of that battle.

Not if matters get any worse for America’s Sovereignty, because at that point we will be in a WAR, and then going to the source of the attack upon that sovereignty “will be on the table;” to “allow the military to take that source out!: With or without those 3rd world Banana Republic countries cooperation!

We should have our military on the border to help the border patrol. And let Mexico know if there are anymore gun shots coming from Mexico we will respond in force.

We may not send troops into the Darien Gap, but you can rest assured that there will be “advisors” aka operators in the area, if need be. There are many places in the world where highly paid “advisors” are used daily, and I can promise you they do make a difference in results.
