A Connecticut teacher who sparked outrage after threatening supporters of Donald Trump on social media has stepped down from her position. Annie Dunleavy, a special education teacher from Cheshire, posted a heated video online, warning Trump voters that they would “end on a stretcher.” The fallout from her controversial statements has been swift and unforgiving, leading to her resignation.

In an emotional interview aired on local television, Dunleavy broke down in tears as she tried to explain her actions and the subsequent fallout.

Dunleavy’s video, originally posted to Snapchat, quickly made its way across other social media platforms. In it, she issued a stark and threatening message:

“If you voted for Trump, literally please delete me, block me, get rid of everything of me, or step to me so that I know what’s up and then I can handle you how I see fit.

Just because you won doesn’t mean we don’t remember who the [expletive] you voted for. You’re not in the clear. Please, please don’t test your gangster on me because you will end on a stretcher, gone forever.”

The rhetoric drew sharp criticism, with many calling for her immediate dismissal.

In her interview, Dunleavy described the video as a product of heightened emotions rather than a genuine intent to cause harm.

“It sounds very extreme. And again, I was in a moment of high emotions, and I shouldn’t have ever posted the video,” she admitted.

Dunleavy attempted to clarify her intentions, suggesting that her message was meant to convey a broader concern about violence rather than incite it:

“The message I was trying to get across, and it came off very wrong, was, if this [political climate] gives people permission to enact violence against women or anybody, I wanted to basically just say, like, I’m not going to go down without a fight.”

She expressed deep regret over her actions, highlighting her love for teaching and her dedication to her students:

“It’s my life’s dream to be a teacher. I consider those kids my kids because I don’t have any of my own, and they fill that for me. It’s so fulfilling. It’s so rewarding.”

The viral nature of Dunleavy’s video prompted swift action from the Cheshire Public Schools district. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Sloan issued a statement acknowledging the incident:

“Unfortunately, it came to my attention over the weekend that someone had taken a video of one of our teachers who shared what she intended to be a private message on Snapchat. She was expressing her personal opinion and not those of the Cheshire Public Schools.”

Sloan made it clear that Dunleavy’s presence in the classroom was untenable given the circumstances:

“It will be impossible to conduct business as usual for our students and staff without temporarily removing the teacher from the building, so we have done so until the outcome of the investigation.”

However, before the district could complete its investigation, Dunleavy tendered her resignation. In a statement sent to local media, Sloan confirmed her departure:

“I am writing to inform you that Annie Dunleavy, our teacher who made the social media post I referenced in Monday’s email, has announced her resignation from her employment with the Cheshire Public Schools effective immediately.”

The incident has reignited debates about the boundaries of free speech for public employees and the consequences of sharing controversial opinions online. Critics argue that Dunleavy’s remarks were inappropriate for someone in a position of influence over young minds, while others see her as a victim of the current polarized political climate.

The district has not announced who will fill Dunleavy’s position but assured parents that their children’s education remains a top priority.

Dunleavy’s case serves as a cautionary tale about the lasting impact of social media posts, particularly for individuals in public-facing roles. While she has expressed remorse and attempted to clarify her intentions, the damage to her reputation and career appears irreversible.

This is predictably the result of emotional decision making rather than logical decision making. Trump Derangement Syndrome is largely based on leftist political smear campaigns, enthusiastically propagated by the leftist media, radical billionaires, and acted upon by the corrupt “justice” system. People who fall for that nonsense do so at their own, and our country’s peril.
