The request by former Trump advisor Stephen K. Bannon to intervene and delay his sentence for contempt of Congress pending appeal has been denied by the United States Supreme Court.
A federal judge had previously ordered Bannon, an ally of former President Donald J. Trump, to report to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury on July 1.
Despite an emergency motion for release pending appeal being rejected by the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia last week, attorneys for Bannon then filed a motion with the Supreme Court seeking relief.
Chief Justice John Roberts gave the Biden Department of Justice until Wednesday to respond to Bannon’s motion.
As the high court deliberated on Bannon’s appeal, Republican legislators on Capitol Hill endeavored to nullify the contempt charges by stripping the authority of the Democrat-led January 6 Committee.
Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in an effort to invalidate the committee’s report against Bannon.
Furthermore, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) utilized the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG) to direct the House Counsel to submit an amicus brief in support of Bannon’s case.

You come up with a motion a few days before Bannon is ordered to report to federal prison; and that is some kind of great action on your part! Way beyond a day late and a dollar short and sure looks to me like you didn’t ever “give a rats ass” about Bannon who did serve honorably by the way in the US Navy, and you got him reporting to prison on 4th of July week!!! You guys SUCK!
