Auma Obama, the sister of former US President Barack Obama, was caught in the middle of a confrontation on Tuesday when police clashed with protesters against the finance bill in Nairobi.

The incident happened while Auma was being interviewed live by CNN’s Larry Madowo, and she was teargassed by the police during the interview.

Auma was among the many Kenyans who gathered in Nairobi to protest against the Finance Bill of 2024 being reviewed by Members of Parliament.

As the demonstration grew more intense, Auma became surrounded by tear gas, needing help from other protesters to get away from the suffocating fumes.

“I am here because of what is happening; young Kenyans are protesting for their rights. They are demonstrating with placards and banners,” Auma expressed, clearly affected by the teargas and struggling to speak amid the coughing.

Auma Obama, a Kenyan writer, sociologist, and community activist, is at the forefront of a non-profit organization that supports orphans and financially struggling young individuals in Kenya.

Born in Nairobi in 1960 to Barack Obama Sr. and his first wife, Kezia, Auma pursued her education at Heidelberg University in Germany before obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Bayreuth.

She also furthered her skills at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin.

The current events unfolding in Nairobi shed light on the escalating tensions surrounding the Finance Bill of 2024 and the widespread public backlash against it.

As protests persist and scrutiny of the Finance Bill grows, it becomes increasingly clear that this issue resonates deeply within Kenyan society.

The unfolding developments in Nairobi are poised to bring attention to the ongoing struggles over the Finance Bill and the widening rift within Kenyan society.

Oops! I meant he is his half-sister, not his aunt. Of course, that is true only if Obama’s father was the drunken Kenyan socialist, and not his Marxist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis.
