Genesis Unveils GV90 Electric SUV With 310-Mile Range

Genesis is pushing deeper into the luxury EV race with a flagship SUV built to look polished, travel far, and load up on comfort tech. The GV90 brings a long-range battery, fast charging, and a cabin that leans hard into the brand’s upscale identity, while the Neolun version adds a more dramatic twist with coach-style doors and a lounge-like setup.

Hyundai Motor Group’s premium badge says the GV90 should deliver about 310 miles of range on a full charge. It also claims the battery can jump from 10% to 80% in roughly 22 minutes when plugged into a 350-kilowatt charger, which is the kind of number that matters when the calendar is packed and the road keeps moving.

José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, framed the SUV as more than just another expensive electric ride. “Our new flagship SUV represents our vision for the future while embodying the very best of Genesis, staying true to the distinctly Korean values of hospitality and craftmanship that have shaped our journey,” he said in a statement.

The lineup will come in standard and Neolun versions, giving the SUV two very different personalities. The standard model uses conventional doors, while the Neolun opens things up with coach-style rear-hinged doors that swing in opposite directions for a more theatrical entrance.

That door layout does more than look fancy. Genesis says it creates a wider opening, making it easier for passengers to slide in and out, especially when the vehicle is parked in tight spaces or when the day calls for extra convenience.

Safety gets a serious spotlight too. The GV90 includes 12 airbags, along with a new roof airbag designed to deploy across the glass roof in severe rollover crashes, which gives the vehicle a stronger safety story to match its luxury pitch.

Genesis also says the SUV uses reinforced structural components, enhanced battery protection, and an in-cabin monitoring system. Those details matter because luxury buyers want the plush stuff, but they also want the quiet confidence that the engineering underneath can handle the hard stuff.

Inside, the cabin looks built to impress passengers before the driver even hits the road. The GV90 features a pop-up OLED cinematic display, a 25-inch head-up display, Hyundai Motor Group’s Pleos Connect infotainment system, and a generative AI assistant called Gleo AI.

The audio setup is no afterthought either. A 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D system rounds out the interior, turning the SUV into a rolling lounge with enough tech to make even short trips feel more like an event than an errand.

The Neolun version takes the comfort angle even further with motorized front seats that can rotate 180 degrees while the SUV is parked. That lets occupants face each other in what Genesis describes as a lounge-like setup, built for conversation, business, or simply relaxing without the usual front-seat rigidity.

Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung called the GV90 a “new vision for luxury mobility.” He added, “Technology alone does not create luxury, and design alone does not define luxury,” while pointing to the idea that innovation should improve how people experience the vehicle in practical, intuitive ways.

The GV90 arrives at a time when electric SUVs are trying to stand out on more than just battery specs. Genesis is clearly betting that range, speed, safety, and a dramatic cabin will give its flagship a sharper edge in a crowded market, and the final sales timing is still being kept under wraps.
