A devastating incident shook Cincinnati when a sheriff’s deputy lost his life in a tragic event at the University of Cincinnati. The deputy was on duty, managing traffic during a graduation ceremony when he was struck by a vehicle. Authorities suspect this was a deliberate act by Rodney Hinton Jr., whose son had been shot by police just the day before.

Rodney Hinton Jr.’s son, Ryan Hinton, was involved in a confrontation with law enforcement the previous day. During a stolen car investigation, Ryan reportedly pointed a gun at officers, leading to his fatal shooting. This chain of events seemed to have triggered a tragic response from his father.

The deputy, whose name has yet to be publicly released, was struck by Hinton Jr.’s vehicle and succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to the hospital. This heartbreaking loss has left the local law enforcement community in mourning. According to the Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober, this act was “targeted and intentional.”

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge confirmed that Rodney Hinton Jr. is the father of Ryan Hinton. Ryan’s death occurred during a police-involved shooting when officers were investigating a stolen vehicle. Theetge urged the community to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed.

Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey expressed deep sorrow over the deputy’s death, highlighting his commitment to serving the community even after retirement. She mentioned that emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the deputy was pronounced dead soon after. This incident has sparked outrage among local law enforcement and the broader community.

Prosecutor Connie Pillich stated that if the investigation confirms the act was intentional, she will “throw the full force of the law at the perpetrator.” The call for capital punishment has been echoed by the local police union, underscoring the seriousness of the crime. The community is reeling from the back-to-back tragedies that have unfolded.

As the investigation continues, the community is urged to remain calm and let the legal process take its course. The initial incident leading to Ryan Hinton’s death involved a stolen vehicle at an apartment complex where officers encountered armed suspects. Body camera footage shows Ryan appearing to trip while fleeing.

Police reported that during the confrontation, Ryan assumed a stance suggesting he was armed, prompting an officer to fire his weapon. The footage revealed that the officer shouted “gun” before discharging his firearm. Two bullets struck Ryan, and a handgun was found near his body.

A second firearm was discovered in the stolen vehicle, linking the suspects to further criminal activity. Two other individuals, Jurell Austin and DeAnthony Bullucks, were arrested and face charges including obstruction and receiving stolen property. A fourth suspect is still at large.

Rodney Hinton Jr. appeared in court for a bond hearing, with over 30 deputies present. His public defender argued that Hinton was in an “emotionally charged situation” and had no prior felonies. Hinton is currently being held without bond, with his next court appearance set for May 6.

This sequence of events has highlighted the dangers law enforcement officers face daily. It also underscores the importance of allowing investigations to unfold without interference or rush to judgment. The community and law enforcement are now focused on seeking justice for the fallen deputy.

The incident has reignited discussions about the challenges and risks police officers encounter. Law enforcement officials emphasize the need for due process and maintaining public order during such emotionally charged times. The legal proceedings against Rodney Hinton Jr. will continue as the community seeks closure.

The tragic loss of the deputy has left a lasting impact on Cincinnati’s law enforcement family. As the investigation progresses, authorities stress the importance of transparency and accountability. The community’s support for law enforcement remains crucial during these trying times.

Violence and murderous actions or behavior run in the Rodney Hinton Jr. family apparently and this killer must be tried and receive the fullest penalty of the law, and in this case murdering a Law Enforcement Officer it can be all the way up to the death penalty if not a life sentence!

You racist idiots wanna go there? Your worthless son pointed a gun at a cop and the cops wasted him, saving the rest of us from his violent, self-centered behavior. What was your 18yo son doing with a gun? And it wasn’t police violence to shoot a person pointing a gun at police. If this thug will point a gun at police, he’ll definitely point it at some unarmed civilian as well. The world is better off with thugs like Ryan Hinton permanently removed, and hopefully it happens to his father too. RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT; a thug pointed a gun at police and got wasted.

I hope Rodney Hinton Jr. gets the death penalty, and Karmelo Anthony too. Negroes have zero self control.
They are a plague on mankind.
