Tesla Cybertrucks Recalled for Life-Threatening Accelerator Issues

by Erica Carlin

Elon Musk’s Tesla has announced a recall for all 3,878 Cybertrucks that have been shipped to date.

The recall is due to a defect in the accelerator pedal that can become stuck, posing an increased risk of crashes.

According to TechCrunch, Tesla is facing a setback as it recalls all delivered Cybertrucks because of a manufacturing issue with the accelerator pedal assembly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned that the pedal may dislodge and become trapped in the footwell trim, potentially causing unintended acceleration and accidents.

Tesla faced a tumultuous week as it announced a recall of its Cybertruck due to issues with the accelerator pedal.

The recall came on the heels of significant challenges for the company, including layoffs affecting over 10% of its workforce and the departure of two high-ranking executives.

Additionally, Tesla sought shareholder approval for CEO Elon Musk’s controversial compensation package after a judge had previously invalidated it earlier in the year.

Concerns about the Cybertruck’s accelerator pedal surfaced recently, leading Tesla to halt deliveries while conducting an investigation.

Despite Musk’s reassurances on Twitter about the company’s caution, Tesla disclosed to NHTSA that no crashes or injuries had been reported due to the defect.

The root cause of the problem was traced back to an unauthorized alteration in the manufacturing process, where soap was introduced as a lubricant to assist in assembling the pad onto the accelerator pedal.

This unintended addition reduced the pad’s grip on the pedal, resulting in dislodgement.

In response, Tesla committed to replacing or modifying the accelerator pedal in all existing Cybertrucks and has already initiated production with a revised design.

The company is also rectifying affected vehicles that are en route or stationed at delivery centers, ensuring customer safety and satisfaction.
