TPUSA Reporter Assaulted, Conservatives Demand Accountability Now

Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez says she was violently attacked while filming an anti-ICE demonstration outside the Whipple Federal Building in Minnesota, and she joined BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales to walk through what happened, who was involved, and the moves toward criminal accountability.

The report opens with Hernandez describing the scene: she was on a public street, filming a protest, when a crowd identified her and turned violent, chanting, “We are Antifa.” The assault included punches, whistles blown into her ear, and being shoved to the ground while bystanders recorded. Hernandez stresses she was not there to confront anyone but to observe, which makes the brutality even harder to accept.

Sara plays footage showing Hernandez being shoved in the back, then asks, “How do you feel? How is your body?” Hernandez answers she is “still in pain.” Her tone is steady and measured, but the pain and shock come through when she calls the assault “brutal” and says she remains baffled at the motive for such violence.

Hernandez told Gonzales that once she was identified as a Turning Point USA reporter, members of the crowd escalated. She names William Scott Kelly (also known as “DaWokeFarmer”) as the person who exposed her identity, and notes his prior involvement in another aggressive incident in St. Paul earlier this year. Hernandez says the crowd quickly turned the moment into coordinated aggression rather than a spontaneous confrontation.

She points to specific people she says were central to the attack and calls out three names: DeYanna, Chris, and Paige Ostroushko. Hernandez describes DeYanna as the first person to approach her, shoving and putting fingers in her face, followed by DeYanna’s husband shoving her from behind. That buildup, she explains, happened before the main attack and made the situation feel organized rather than accidental.

Hernandez recounts a disturbing moment where she says Chris told his daughter to, quote, “Blow the whistle in her effing ear.” The video played on the show reportedly captures that exact instruction and the child doing as told. Hernandez emphasizes that the response she got was for merely filming the protest on a public street, not for provoking anyone.

Instead of escalating, she tried to engage calmly, asking standard questions like, “Why are you here?” and, “Why is this important to you?” Hernandez says she offered the group a platform to speak, but they “decided to twist everything into this narrative of, ‘It doesn’t matter — you’re bad and we’re going to brutally assault you.”’ She alleges the attack was pre-planned and coordinated, insisting, “They pre-planned this attack. They coordinated it.”

The violence was ugly enough that, according to Hernandez, even some liberal streamers refused to back the attackers, saying, “Yeah, we can’t support this.” On air, Gonzales reacts viscerally, pleading, “Someone, for the love of God, lock these people up because they’re brutal criminals.” The tone is blunt: violence against journalists on public streets is not protest, it is criminal behavior that demands consequences.

Authorities appear to be taking steps. Chris Ostroushko, Paige Ostroushko, and Lorenzo Amadeo Garcia (Paige’s boyfriend) have been arrested and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office recommended charges tied to the April 11 incident. Hernandez points out that the arrests only start the process, noting, “It is now up to the county prosecutor essentially to decide whether or not they want to bring forward those charges.”

Hernandez admits she “[doesn’t] have any faith in the state” prosecutor because Minneapolis leans so liberal, and she welcomes federal involvement. “Luckily, the feds are also involved. … Both DHS and the DOJ are involved, and I’m happy to see this because I do want federal charges brought forward,” she says, underlining that federal attention could be the difference between a paper charge and real accountability.

The interview cuts between description and video evidence, with Gonzales pressing for accountability and Hernandez answering with specifics about names, timing, and the ways the crowd coordinated. The episode leans toward demanding justice and calling out a culture that tolerates violence under the banner of protest. For viewers, the message is clear: journalism on public streets is not a crime, and coordinated attacks should not be treated like acceptable protest tactics.
