A resident of Springfield, OH, spoke at a city commission meeting, claiming that local residents are being displaced from their homes to accommodate Haitian migrants.
The man, who remains unnamed, alleged that the federal government is paying “triple the rent” for Haitian immigrants, prompting landlords to prioritize newcomers over long-time residents.
During the meeting, the resident, who has worked with the homeless community for over 25 years, stated that he didn’t know of “a single homeless Haitian” in the town, as they were all receiving federal housing vouchers.
He shared an example, swearing under oath, of someone who had lived in their home for seven years before being asked to temporarily move out for renovations, with the promise of returning.
“They moved him out and tripled the rent,” he added, before the commission cut him off.

Watch:
Many on social media felt sympathy for those who had been displaced.

Blame was also laid on landlords and the federal government.
