A recent Gallup poll has revealed that President Joe Biden is now ranked as the second-worst president in American history by the public.

This assessment, based on historical comparisons and current sentiment, underscores the deep dissatisfaction many Americans feel toward his administration’s policies and leadership.

Disapproval Among Americans

The survey, conducted by Gallup in late December, polled thousands of Americans on how they would rank Biden’s presidency in comparison to others throughout U.S. history. Biden was ranked lower than all but one president—James Buchanan, who is widely criticized for his role in the events leading to the Civil War.

Public discontent with Biden’s presidency has been driven by several factors, including the handling of the economy, perceived foreign policy failures, and a lack of decisive leadership during crises. Gallup’s report notes that nearly 62% of respondents believe Biden will be remembered negatively, with only 23% offering a positive view of his time in office.

Key Issues Under Biden’s Leadership

Economic challenges appear to be at the forefront of public dissatisfaction. Under Biden’s administration, inflation soared to its highest levels in decades, putting significant strain on American households. Rising costs for essentials like groceries, gas, and housing have been a recurring concern for families across the country.

Additionally, Biden’s foreign policy has faced sharp criticism. The chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, which left American citizens and allies stranded while emboldening the Taliban, remains a significant point of contention. Critics argue that the withdrawal demonstrated a lack of strategic planning and accountability, tarnishing America’s reputation on the global stage.

Domestically, Biden’s handling of border security has been another major source of frustration. Record levels of illegal immigration and a failure to address the crisis effectively have left many questioning the administration’s commitment to safeguarding American sovereignty.

Comparisons to Historical Figures

James Buchanan, the only president ranked lower than Biden, is often criticized for his inaction during a critical juncture in American history. His failure to address the secession of Southern states is viewed as a direct precursor to the Civil War. For Biden to be ranked just above Buchanan underscores the depth of discontent with his presidency.

Conservative commentators have drawn comparisons between Biden and other presidents known for their contentious leadership. The Gateway Pundit’s analysis notes that Biden’s ranking reflects not only immediate public dissatisfaction but also broader concerns about long-term damage to the country’s stability and prosperity.

Conservative Reactions

The poll’s findings have sparked significant discussion among conservatives. Many view the ranking as validation of their critiques of Biden’s policies and leadership style. Prominent commentators have emphasized that this low ranking is indicative of a broader shift in public opinion against the progressive policies championed by his administration.

Critics argue that Biden’s presidency represents a departure from core American values, citing perceived overreach in areas like pandemic response measures, restrictions on energy production, and the expansion of federal bureaucracy. “This is a reflection of what happens when leadership prioritizes ideology over pragmatism,” one conservative analyst remarked.

Gallup Poll Trends

Gallup’s findings are part of a broader trend in public opinion that suggests waning trust in Biden’s ability to lead effectively. The poll also highlighted a stark partisan divide: while 85% of Republicans rated Biden’s presidency negatively, only 37% of Democrats shared this view. Independents, a key voting bloc, leaned more toward the Republican assessment, with 59% expressing a negative opinion.

Looking Ahead

As the country approaches the 2024 presidential election, Biden’s low historical ranking could have significant implications for his political future and that of the Democratic Party. Conservatives argue that the poll should serve as a wake-up call, highlighting the need for policies that prioritize economic growth, national security, and individual freedoms.

Biden’s administration has attempted to counter these narratives by emphasizing achievements such as infrastructure investments and job growth. However, these efforts have not been sufficient to reverse the prevailing negative perception among voters.
