As the Democratic Party’s nomination for the presidency draws nearer, Vice President Kamala Harris is facing scrutiny from the left over her handling of the southern border crisis.
Despite being designated as the “border czar,” it has been revealed that such a title never existed and that Harris was not responsible for addressing the surge of illegal immigrants entering the country. However, those who worked closely with her have come forward to criticize her performance in this role.
Brandon Judd, former president of the Border Patrol Union, spoke out about his experience working with Harris on immigration issues, stating that she failed to implement necessary policies. During her tenure, border crossings reached record highs for three consecutive years.
While crossings from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras decreased by 2023, it is important to note that this does not necessarily indicate an overall decline in illegal immigration.
It could also imply a significant rise in illegal immigrants from other countries.
Harris was tasked with addressing the root causes of illegal immigration from northern triangle countries under President Joe Biden’s “Root Causes” executive order.
She negotiated a $4 billion investment in Central American countries during a visit to Mexico in 2021, which was supplemented by an additional $5.2 billion from private companies.
However, she has not visited the border or these countries since January 2022 and no new commitments have been made to address illegal immigration.
According to Judd, Harris failed to comprehend and address the actual issues driving migration influx. He emphasized that political instability, climate issues, and crime were identified as root causes by Harris but were not effectively tackled.
Comparing this to the Trump administration’s handling of similar factors without an explosion in illegal immigration suggests a lack of meaningful action on Harris’ part.
If Judd’s assessment is indicative of what a potential presidency under Harris would entail, it raises concerns about how she would handle broader national and international issues beyond just border security.
Looking at her track record during her time as vice president under Biden’s administration reveals significant shortcomings.
She neglected to effectively address the border crisis while also delivering speeches characterized by vague language and inappropriate laughter. Furthermore, she played a role in perpetuating claims regarding Biden’s cognitive abilities.
As Vice President Kamala Harris continues to pursue the Democratic Party’s nomination for president; there are growing concerns within her party regarding her performance at addressing critical issues at the southern border.
Despite being given responsibility for tackling this issue and being referred to as “border czar” – a position which apparently did not exist – those who worked alongside her have raised serious doubts about her effectiveness.
During Brandon Judd’s recent interview with Fox News; he expressed disappointment over working with Harris on immigration matters stating “We gave her policies that she needed to implement – she refused”.
This sentiment was echoed by reports showing record high border crossings throughout 2021-2023.
Although there was a decrease in apprehensions from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras by 2023; it cannot be assumed that overall illegal immigration has reduced – rather it might indicate an increase from other regions.
Under President Joe Biden’s ‘Root Causes’ executive order; Harris was entrusted with addressing reasons behind illegal immigration from northern triangle countries (Guatemala, El Salvador & Honduras).
Her negotiations led to significant financial commitments towards addressing these root causes; however subsequent lack of visits or new commitments along with continued high levels of illegal immigration signify inadequacy on her part.
Judd highlighted how political instability climate & crime were identified as root causes which remained unaddressed despite similar conditions existing under Trump administration without corresponding spike in illegal migrants.
His comments raise concerns about how such performance might translate into broader national & international challenges if she secures presidency.
Reviewing her record during three-and-a-half years under Biden administration; reveals failures regarding border management along with delivering speeches marked by ambiguity & inappropriate responses; also contributing towards dismissing claims related to Biden’s mental fitness.

A “root cause” is the failure to secure the border and prosecute and deport border jumpers. If you come illegally the law and common sense demand deportation. Another “root cause” is the Dem Pty scheme to import aliens, give them citizenship and have them vote to keep the Dems in perpetual power. In short, to replace the American population with a malleable foreign one.
