Caleb Surratt, only 21 years old, is quickly emerging as a bright star in the league. His performance was instrumental in Legion XIII’s team victory, as he recorded rounds of 67-68-65 to finish at 13-under, placing him third overall. This was his best finish in LIV Golf to date.
Talor Gooch, representing Smash GC, secured fourth place with a solid 5-under 66, ending at 11-under. This follows his recent win at LIV Golf Andalucia, continuing his strong form. On the team leaderboard, Legion XIII clinched victory by seven shots, marking their fourth win of the season and eighth in two years.
The triumph solidifies Legion XIII’s position at the top of the standings as they head towards the Team Championship in Michigan. Surratt’s performance was crucial, but the entire team contributed consistently to the victory. Jon Rahm made a notable charge on Sunday, shooting a 6-under 65 to tie for fifth place.
Despite Torque GC’s efforts to secure their first team victory since 2023, they faced challenges. Carlos Ortiz had a tough round, shooting a 2-over 73, while Sebastian Munoz and Mito Pereira’s rounds weren’t enough to catch the leading team. The course played slightly easier in the final round, with an average score of –1.87.
Up next for the LIV Golf tour is the event in Chicago at Bolingbrook Golf Club, scheduled for August 8-10. The new scoring format this season includes all four scores in every round for the team competition. This change has added a new dynamic to the team strategies and outcomes.
