On video footage from this past Saturday, a shocking event unfolded as more than twenty-five cyclists assaulted a liquor store employee outside Golden Hours Liquor on International Boulevard in Oakland, California.
The situation quickly intensified, culminating in the worker brandishing a handgun and causing his assailants to disperse.
It all started when an unnamed employee exited the store and was met by a sizable group of cyclists.
Video of the incident depicts a biker making aggressive gestures, clenching one fist against the other hand in a taunting manner as he advanced towards the worker.
The situation escalated rapidly when another biker slapped the worker across the face, causing his hat to fall off.
As the worker tried to retreat, a masked assailant struck him on the side of the neck and then delivered another blow to his head.
This led to a chaotic scene as the bikers swarmed the employee, throwing punches and slaps as they pushed him back toward the entrance of the store.
In the background, shouts of “Get him, Get him” rang out as multiple bikers laughed and continued to pummel the worker. The violence escalated until, amidst the onslaught, the worker managed to draw a handgun.
The appearance of the firearm immediately altered the course of the confrontation, prompting the bikers to flee in panic.
With gun in hand, the worker backed up against a wall briefly before lowering the weapon and giving chase on foot.
In another video clip, the worker pursued a biker dressed in a gray hoodie and face mask, swiping at him and causing a stumble and fall.
Amidst the chaos, he shouted, “Where you at, where you at,” attempting to regain control of the situation.
The Oakland Police Department was alerted around 4:15 p.m. due to a ShotSpotter activation.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered evidence of a shooting, but no injuries were reported from the melee.
Despite this evidence and the tumultuous scene, no arrests were made following the incident.
After holstering his gun following the altercation, the worker remained vigilant outside the store as several individuals lingered, potentially seeking further confrontation after his display of firepower.
As of now, no charges have been filed and the identities of the bikers involved remain unknown.
The Oakland Police are continuing their investigation into what occurred outside Golden Hours Liquor.
