Judge Mary Kay Holthus dismissed the case against the 6 GOP electors on Friday, stating that she was not convinced by state prosecutors’ arguments that Clark County was the appropriate venue for the case.
The electors’ attorneys had argued that Carson City or Douglas County would be more suitable locations due to where the false signing ceremony took place and where the fake elector documents were originally mailed from.
Judge Holthus expressed her opinion that the crime occurred in a different jurisdiction and suggested that it should be heard elsewhere.
Following the ruling, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced plans to appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court, asserting that the judge’s ruling was incorrect.

The Nevada Republican electors faced a baseless case regarding their casting of alternative electoral votes for President Trump.
However, the dismissal of the case by Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus drew criticism from Aaron Ford, Nevada’s Attorney General.
Ford expressed his intention to pursue the case directly with the US Supreme Court, blaming the judge for an erroneous decision and vowing an immediate appeal.
Nonetheless, as reported by the Seattle Times, it appears that the opportunity for further legal action has lapsed.
Defense attorneys unequivocally stated that the case is no longer viable, citing a three-year statute of limitations on filing charges that expired in December.
They emphasized that pursuing the case in another jurisdiction at this point would be in violation of this limitation.
“They’re done,” said Margaret McLetchie, attorney for Clark County Republican party chairman Jesse Law, one of the defendants in the case.
The trial scheduled for January, which involved defendants including the Nevada GOP chairman and prominent party leaders from Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe, was called off by the judge.
The charges against them included offering a false instrument for filing and uttering a forged instrument, both of which are felonies carrying penalties of up to four or five years in prison.
In Georgia, Michigan, and Arizona, weak criminal charges against GOP electors still persist.
