A significant decision has been made in the House of Representatives concerning the participation of non-citizens in local elections. The House passed H.R. 884, a bill aimed at repealing a local law in Washington, D.C., which allowed non-citizens to vote in local elections. This legislation saw bipartisan support, with 266 lawmakers voting in favor and 148 against, including 56 Democrats siding with their Republican colleagues.
Representative August Pfluger from Texas, a strong advocate of this bill, stated that the measure aims to protect the sanctity of the voting process. “Today, the House took action to defend that power,” Pfluger stated, emphasizing the importance of keeping the voting process exclusive to citizens. He highlighted that opposing the bill equated to undermining the political influence of legal voters.
The legislation H.R. 884 targets the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022, which was previously passed by the D.C. Council. This local law had granted voting rights to green card holders and undocumented migrants in local elections starting in 2024. Republicans have long been vocal against such measures, arguing that they dilute the voting power of American citizens.
According to the Migration Policy Institute, an estimated 90,000 migrants reside in Washington, D.C. The city is also recognized as a sanctuary jurisdiction, partly due to policies that limit local law enforcement’s cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Center for Immigration Studies has criticized these policies, stating they contribute to the city’s sanctuary status.
Representative Pfluger did not mince words when discussing the D.C. Council’s decision. “The radical DC Council decided to allow noncitizens — including illegal aliens and foreign agents — to vote in local elections,” he remarked. He warned that this could open a Pandora’s Box, further diluting the voting power of citizen voters.
The bill’s passage in the House marks a significant step, but its journey is far from over. Previously, similar efforts stalled in the Senate, which was controlled by Democrats at the time. However, with a shift in the political landscape, there is renewed optimism among Republicans about advancing this legislation.
The recent vote occurred shortly after the House passed another piece of legislation, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. This act requires states to verify citizenship before registering individuals to vote in federal elections. Only a handful of Democrats supported this measure, reflecting the partisan divide on this issue.
The Trump administration has also been proactive in ensuring that U.S. elections remain the domain of citizens. In March, President Trump signed Executive Order 14248, which aims to protect voting systems from fraud and foreign interference. This order underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of American elections.
In a related move, the administration partnered with the Social Security Administration to better verify immigration status and citizenship. This partnership is intended to prevent non-citizens from participating in U.S. elections unlawfully. Such measures align with the conservative viewpoint that prioritizes election integrity and citizenship.
As the debate over non-citizen voting continues, the question of who should have a say in local elections remains a contentious issue. For conservatives, the answer is clear: voting is a privilege that should be reserved for citizens. This perspective is grounded in the belief that American citizens should have the ultimate say in their governance and community decisions.
The ongoing legislative efforts reflect a broader political strategy to reinforce the values of citizenship and national identity. These efforts are seen as essential to preserving the foundational principles of democracy. In the political arena, ensuring that only citizens vote is viewed as a safeguard against potential manipulation and influence.
With both chambers of Congress now under Republican control, there is cautious optimism about the future of these legislative initiatives. The political landscape has shifted, potentially paving the way for these measures to become law. However, the path forward remains uncertain, with potential challenges and debates ahead.
As lawmakers continue to deliberate on these issues, the focus remains on protecting the integrity of the voting process. Ensuring that elections are fair and free from undue influence is a priority for those who advocate for these measures. The ongoing discussions highlight the importance of citizenship and the role it plays in shaping the nation’s future.
In the broader context of American politics, these legislative efforts are part of a larger narrative. They reflect a commitment to upholding conservative values and ensuring that the voice of citizens is paramount. As the nation grapples with issues of identity and governance, the emphasis on citizenship remains a central theme.

House Approves Bill To Exclude Non-Citizens From Voting In DC Elections
About TIME!!!
Why is forbidding non citizens from voting such a big deal. Can anyone name a country where people passing thru get to vote? Many countries demand that a citizen only vote in the town of his/her birth. Other countries have only day of election personal voting. Democrat/Marxists make demands to make it easier to steal elections. Its time to halt all that and get back to personal voting only for qualified, proven citizens.
don; absolutely, and it must be stopped now or this Nation of ours will be lost to all of the evil within it and without seeking to tear out the jugular and heart of America! This is War and MUST be treated as such; military tribunals for all of the hardcore resistance to the U.S. Constitution!
100 YEARS LATE, NOT IMPPRESSED!
Oh yes you’re correct but what is going to be America’s “swan song?” Just roll over and take it as the Marxist’s turn this nation inside out and then start shipping most if not all non-compliant to camps! Or do enough CITIZENS finally say, “Wait a damn minute we’ve had enough of this crap!”
Time to take our Government back!
The sad fact is that this edict was even required!🙄 As is said far too often in America today, “You Just Can’t Make This Schiff Up‼️👀
Firewagon; Totally agree and Spot-On!!! Our own screwed up Gubbermint has been selling down the proverbial river for years making this a totally loosing proposition!
One way or another there will be HELL TO PAY!!!
I just posted this long comment elsewhere on this site that truly applies here as well!
Where are all of the Demoncraps/Rinos that were screaming “Nobody is Above the Law” for the last 10 years! Apparently they didn’t mean that because Rioters, Looters and Anarchist Activists are ABOVE THE LAW along with all Foreign Alien Invaders that trample upon the US Constitution, the American Citizens, Law Enforcement and America’s Sovereignty!!!
I just had the following to say elsewhere on this site that fully applies here too!
About time we talk in plain English so that even the most moronic and the Leftist in this Nation like those that spew shit on CNN, MSNBC or Washington Post get their facts straight! And I quote from this article report!
“Left-leaning commentators accused McGraw of stirring anti-immigrant sentiment. Monica Hesse of the Washington Post criticized McGraw’s alleged involvement with ICE.”
There was “NO” that is “ZERO” anti-immigrant sentiment! How does anyone with “a freaking clue” classify nearly 15 Million foreign INVADERS many of which are Criminals, Terrorists, Enemy Combatants and plain parasites that were allowed to flow into the country during Biden’s “FRAUD FAKE” autopen presidency, none of which actually applied to “emigrate” to America by “due process under United States Immigration Law” and be “properly vetted and determined suitable to enter the nation under Constitutional guidelines and subsequently follow the Immigration Policies and Laws;” like any others have done “through the centuries?!” “Not possible” and those that entered have “Violated America’s National Sovereignty and all Pertinent Law” to “willfully invade our Nation which is a Constitutional Republic;” not some 3rd World shithole, Marxist, Monarchy, Oligarchy, Criminal Dictatorship, or even fouled up Socialist quickly sinking into oblivion “European” nation!
All who entered improperly are here in violation of said laws making them Foreign Criminal Invaders absolutely subject to “Immediate REMOVAL;” voluntarily if they will, but if not then by Military and Police FORCE!
Anyone that doesn’t agree with me is “Dead WRONG” and all I have to say is “TOUGH SHIT!”
“America was never meant to be the “World’s Doormat” and I am absolutely against all of these people from foreign lands that have done this to my Country, and I say “Get the Hell Out!~”
One way or the other you’re all “Out of Here!”
{BYE!}
