The House Appropriations Committee has injected a wave of scrutiny into the FY26 NIH spending bill concerning Dr. Anthony Fauci’s controversial “Monkey Island.” This decision follows revelations from White Coat Waste Project (WCW) and The Gateway Pundit that have spotlighted the secretive primate colony in South Carolina. The colony is described as a multi-million-dollar operation involved in disturbing experiments on thousands of monkeys.
In 2021, White Coat Waste, a watchdog organization dedicated to ending cruel taxpayer-funded animal testing, unveiled the grim reality of Monkey Island. The island confines over 3,300 primates, which are bred and shipped to laboratories for excruciating “maximum pain” research. Page 133 of the bill draft raises concerns about the Morgan Island rhesus macaque breeding colony, highlighting its support by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
The more than 3,000 rhesus monkeys owned by NIAID on the island are considered invasive and pose health risks. The bill commends NIH’s efforts to prioritize human-focused research while urging the agency to evaluate the necessity of breeding primates on the island. This assessment is required in NIH’s fiscal year congressional justification.
In 2024, the number of monkeys confined on the island exceeded 3,700, according to WCW’s analysis, marking a ten-year high. WCW collaborated with House Republicans to include this provision in the bill, potentially signaling a shift in defunding the operation. Alpha Genesis holds the current contract to manage Monkey Island, valued at $26.9 million, running through September 2028.
White Coat Waste expressed its stance in a statement to The Gateway Pundit, emphasizing years of investigations and lawsuits exposing the grim reality of Fauci’s taxpayer-funded Monkey Island. They revealed how hundreds of young primates are shipped annually to undergo gruesome experiments in government labs. The organization expressed satisfaction that their efforts have led to the NIH’s Congressional funding panel scrutinizing this secretive and costly project.
In March, NIH allocated an additional $4.1 million under the existing contract, as reported by The Gateway Pundit. So far, managing the island has cost taxpayers over $66 million, adjusted for inflation. The primates from the island have been subjected to testing related to AIDS, polio, and bioterrorism, with access to the island restricted to researchers and officials.
An estimated 500 to 600 monkeys are taken from the island each year, sent to NIH and other government labs, where they face virus infections, mutilation, and eventual death. Criticism of the island’s lavish spending has come from figures like DOGE Senate Caucus Chair Sen. Joni Ernst. She denounced it on social media in December 2024, dubbing it “Dr. Fauci’s funky monkey island.”
Since 1979, Dr. Fauci’s NIH division has maintained the site, housing 3,379 monkeys for taxpayer-funded experiments. Managing the island has cost more than $66 million to date, adjusted for inflation. Sen. Rand Paul also criticized the project in his annual Festivus report, highlighting the breeding and confinement of 3,500 primates there.
Rep. Nancy Mace has joined lawmakers in condemning NIH’s practices. As the bill advances to a full House vote following committee markup, advocates are hopeful for the termination of Fauci’s legacy project. With growing pressure from lawmakers and watchdogs, NIH might finally be compelled to justify or abandon this extravagant use of taxpayer funds.
The Morgan Island rhesus macaque colony has been a focal point of controversy for years. The primates, often used in painful experiments without pain relief, have ignited public outcry. As scrutiny intensifies, the future of the island remains uncertain.
Lawmakers are rallying for change, seeking to end the cycle of taxpayer-funded animal testing. The call for transparency and justification from NIH is louder than ever. The outcome of this bill could redefine how taxpayer money is allocated to animal research.
The debate surrounding Monkey Island reflects broader concerns about government spending. Advocates argue for more responsible use of taxpayer dollars. The focus is on shifting towards ethical and human-focused research methods.
As the legislative process unfolds, the fate of the monkeys on Morgan Island hangs in the balance. Lawmakers, watchdogs, and the public eye are fixed on NIH’s next move. The impact of this scrutiny may set a precedent for future government-funded research projects.

That homicidal genocidal PSYCHOPATH Fauci Needs to be tried and executed in order for True Genuine JUSTICE to be served in America!!!
Bill Gates and Soros along with him!~
My God.!
Fauci is a true Demon, I can’t imagine the torture and pain those monkeys are going through.
And I believe that’s why China Operative Anti-American Communist Biden or Kamala Harris signed a pardon for Fauci, so he could continue experiments and torture.
Some of those missing children could be experimented on and they may have been burned the remains.
Fauci must be tortured, hands tied and beheaded period along with the Soros cult.
Dear Lord! Yes Michael all of it not just probable but most likely the case!
I made a donation to WCW the animal rights advocates back while the Demon in Chief Biden was doing his Auto-pen and at the time Fauci had been pushing an experiment where young pups, beagles I believe, where strapped down with their heads in a container where massive amounts of sand flies and mosquitoes continually were biting them and sucking their blood!!! Anyone that would push or have anything to do with such a horror story for real like that with the pups vocal chords cut so nobody has to listen to their cries has to be demonically influenced or even possessed! I say Fauci is absolutely as bad and in some respects worse than Josef Mengele Hitler’s “Angel of Death” who was found guilty of “Crimes Against Humanity” and we know what he got for that! Fauci absolutely deserves the same not just because of his push for these horrible torturous experiments he pushed, but, for the Plan-demic and his evil hand in orchestrating the whole affair with the CDC and NIH!
Fauci is guilty of GENOCIDE!!! Millions of human beings suffered and died because of him and the CCP, WHO and all the conspirators involved in that globalist 2030 Agenda kick-off!
