They apparently promised women in Central and South America a better life in the U.S., only to force them into prostitution upon arrival in Tennessee.
The accused allegedly used online commercial sex websites to advertise the victims. They then directed commercial sex buyers to motels located in Nashville and Murfreesboro. The ill-gotten proceeds from these activities were collected by the defendants.
According to officials, all eight Venezuelans entered the U.S. illegally. The women caught in this web of deceit were told that they had to pay back an impossible debt for their journey to the U.S. These debts were deliberately inflated to ensure they could never be paid off.
