DoD Prepares for Bio-Chemical Attacks at DNC, Funds De-Contamination Rooms

The Democratic National Convention is currently in progress, and both local and federal officials are on high alert for the potential of a biochemical attack.

According to CBS, the Department of Defense has provided funding for the establishment of de-contamination rooms at Rush University Hospital in anticipation of such an attack.

Rush University is situated in Chicago, Illinois, just minutes away from the venue where the DNC is scheduled to take place.

In addition to this preparation, a substantial fence has been erected around the convention center.

CBS also revealed that security measures for the DNC extend well beyond the immediate vicinity of the United Center and McCormick Place, where most of the convention’s events are set to occur.

The preparations have reached unexpected areas within Chicago, as evidenced by security gates that suddenly appeared near neighborhoods far removed from the convention sites.

In response to these developments, individuals living along the Magnificent Mile and Gold Coast discovered unanticipated security gates and road closures.

For example, at the Dirksen Federal Building in the Loop, security gates were installed overnight to prevent potential vandalism at the courthouse.

Similarly, residents near Chicago Avenue found roads blocked off with police officers on standby and large security gates restricting access to sidewalks.

Chris McClendon expressed surprise at these measures, particularly noting that they were implemented discreetly.

He remarked on how he had to consult a map to understand what was happening when he noticed such significant changes in his neighborhood:

“They put this up like 5:30 in the morning. So they kind of did it under wraps…I live right over here at the Hancock Building. When I came outside, I had to go check the map to see what’s going on. I thought this was at the United Center.”

The heightened level of security has left residents like McClendon feeling perplexed by these sudden changes within their communities.

As preparations for the Democratic National Convention intensify, it is clear that concerns about safety have led to extensive measures being implemented well beyond just securing immediate convention venues.

The presence of de-contamination rooms at Rush University Hospital underscores the fear of potential threats related to biochemical attacks.
