Former President Donald Trump and millions of his supporters, including allies in Congress, have been accusing the Department of Justice of weaponizing the system against certain people for years.
Despite the media and those on the left dismissing these claims as conspiracy theories, new data obtained by the Daily Caller appears to provide evidence that it is indeed happening.
In an exclusive report, the Daily Caller highlighted that Biden’s DOJ is applying an 1870 statute in a novel way to increase the sentences of peaceful abortion protesters.
Over the past three decades, Biden’s Justice Department has filed an unusually high number of charges under the Freedom of Access to Clinics (FACE) Act, which has been in existence for 30 years.
The report pointed out that while over a span of 30 years, a quarter of all charges brought against protesters under the FACE Act have been attributed to Biden’s DOJ within a few years.
The data also demonstrates that the charges brought by Biden’s DOJ are subject to this unique enhancement.
Furthermore, it indicates that Biden’s DOJ appears to be utilizing the law to unfairly target certain beliefs. Notably, there is a significant disparity in the number of charges against protesters from opposing viewpoints.
The Daily Caller noted:
In some instances under previous administrations, threatening to harm or kill a clinic employee carried less severe punishments. Under Biden’s, however, elderly women peacefully protesting an abortion clinic have faced much harsher consequences. After the Supreme Court’s Roe vs Wade decision leak in 2022, hundreds of attacks were waged against pro-life pregnancy centers and churches, but the DOJ has only prosecuted five individuals for such offenses.
One shocking example highlights the disparity in legal cases brought against pro-life and pro-abortion protesters.
Between 1994 and 2024, 205 cases were filed against pro-life protesters, while only five cases were brought against pro-abortion protesters.
The bombshell data was provided to the Daily Caller by Texas Rep. Chip Roy’s (R) office.
Prior to this hard data, many observers had already noted that pro-life protesters appeared to face disproportionate legal action compared to pro-abortion protesters, despite committing similar infractions or crimes.
The outlet noted:
Some claim, however, the Biden Administration is weaponizing FACE against individuals who protest abortion. In the past two years, FBI agents raided the homes of pro-life activists Mark Houck and Paul Vaughn (the former being acquitted and the latter escaping prison time) during Biden’s presidency.
Erin Hawley, Vice President of the Center for Life and Regulatory Practice at the Alliance for Defending Freedom (ADF), shared with the Daily Caller that the FACE Act “has been politicized and abused to target peaceful pro-life advocates.”
This serves as further proof of the necessity for a Republican presidency and administration in America to prevent the weaponization of the DOJ against one side.
