The English star mixed humor with honesty as she talked about the final major of the season, her love of big-stage pressure, and the edge that keeps her chasing a breakthrough title on home soil.
Hull was speaking before play at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club when she told the story of what she did to Adam Woodward, the longtime caddie who has carried her bag for more than a decade. The setup was classic Hull: a quick stop at a prank shop in Blackpool, a fake scratch-off ticket, and a well-timed handoff in the player lounge the next morning.
Woodward took the bait immediately. According to Hull, he scratched away with full belief that he had hit the jackpot, and for a few wild moments he thought he had won $100,000.
Hull described the scene like someone who enjoyed every second of the chaos. “I went to a prank shop in Blackpool last night and got some scratch cards. We go into the player lounge this morning and I was like ‘Hey, I got some scratch cards from the shop,'” nonchalantly.

Hull said the reaction kept building until Woodward was practically losing his mind over the fake win. “He was sweating, he was trembling, he couldn’t believe his luck, and we had to tell him it was fake and he nearly quit the job,” Hull concluded with a laugh.
The prank fit Hull’s personality pretty neatly. She has never come off like someone who wants to make golf feel stiff or overly polished, and that looseness seems to travel with her whether she is in contention or just walking into a press conference.
That same straight-shooting attitude came through when the conversation shifted from jokes to money and pressure. Hull did not hide the fact that majors feel different for her, and she made it clear that the stakes help sharpen her focus instead of rattling her.
“I’m not going to lie,” Hull said. “That’s why I think I play so well in the majors. Even if I’m quite a lot behind, I am like, make loads of birdies today, extra dollars, for me and him to get.”
