Republican Ohio Senator JD Vance and CBS host Margaret Brennan engaged in a heated exchange on Sunday regarding former President Donald Trump’s debate performance and Brennan’s allegations of dishonesty in some of his responses.
During an appearance on “Face the Nation,” Vance discussed Trump’s performance in the debate with Joe Biden.
When Brennan challenged Vance by highlighting two of Trump’s responses on abortion and the January 6 incident, Vance countered by accusing the media of bias on these issues.
In response, Brennan expressed her confusion and asked Vance to stick to the topic at hand.
However, Vance cited Nancy Pelosi’s on-camera admission regarding her responsibility for a lack of National Guard presence at the Capitol.
He also accused Democratic governors and lawmakers of attempting to legalize abortion up to the moment of birth.
“Joe Biden said that no troops died on his watch even though 13 American service members died thanks to his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan,” Vance added.
Vance slammed the media for their lack of fact-checking on Joe Biden and accused them of providing cover for him in light of Donald Trump’s strong debate performance.
He highlighted the stark contrast between Trump’s energy and command of facts and Biden’s apparent inability to fulfill the role of president.
Following the debate, Democratic pundits have raised concerns about whether Biden is the suitable nominee for the Democratic Party.
A CBS/YouGov poll showed that 72% of voters doubt Biden’s mental and cognitive fitness for a second term.
Additionally, 47% of voters believe Trump effectively communicated his ideas during the debate, while only 27% said the same for Biden.
