Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the creation of a new Second Amendment Enforcement Task Force, directed by President Donald Trump. This initiative responds to an executive order from earlier this year, mandating the Department of Justice to audit federal agencies for any policies that might infringe upon gun owners’ constitutional rights. The task force’s mission is to identify and challenge policies from the executive branch that could unlawfully restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
In her press release, Bondi criticized past administrations for imposing measures that unnecessarily burdened gun owners and vendors. She emphasized that these measures unfairly targeted law-abiding citizens simply exercising their Second Amendment rights. The new task force is part of President Trump’s broader agenda to promote Second Amendment rights and ensure federal agencies align with constitutional standards.
Bondi explained that the task force will leverage the resources of the Department of Justice to advance President Trump’s pro-gun agenda. She made it clear that the administration is committed to protecting gun owners from government overreach. In a department-wide memo, Bondi reiterated the importance of Second Amendment protections, stating that it has been undervalued for too long.
The memo stated, “For too long, the Second Amendment … has been treated as a second-class right.” Bondi pledged that the Department of Justice would utilize its full power to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens. This initiative originates from Executive Order 14206, titled “Protecting Second Amendment Rights,” which President Trump issued to safeguard gun rights.
The executive order directs the attorney general to ensure that these rights are protected across all federal departments. Bondi noted in her memo that President Trump has prioritized protecting Second Amendment rights for this administration. She quoted Trump, who described the Second Amendment as a crucial safeguard of security and liberty, foundational to all other American rights.
Bondi announced the formation of the Second Amendment Enforcement Task Force as part of a comprehensive action plan proposed to the President. The task force is tasked with developing strategies to leverage litigation and policy to protect and promote compliance with the Second Amendment. Bondi emphasized that this was part of the ongoing effort to implement Executive Order 14206.
Recently, the Department of Justice repealed a Biden-era “zero tolerance” policy that targeted licensed firearms dealers over minor clerical errors. This policy had previously led to license revocations for gun sellers due to paperwork mistakes, sparking legal challenges from the firearms industry. Michael Cargill, owner of Central Texas Gun Works, had sued the Justice Department over the ATF’s bump stock ban, winning a court ruling in his favor.
Cargill explained that the Supreme Court clarified that the ATF couldn’t create or write laws, forcing the Trump administration to adopt a different approach. The administration had to repeal policies to maintain a pro-Second Amendment stance. The task force’s full focus areas have not been disclosed yet, but it is anticipated to review existing firearms restrictions.
This review is expected to consider the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. This decision reaffirmed constitutional limits on government-imposed gun regulations. As the task force begins its work, it will likely address various aspects of firearms laws and their alignment with the Bruen decision.
The announcement of the task force underscores the administration’s commitment to Second Amendment rights. It reflects a broader effort to ensure that federal policies do not infringe upon the constitutional rights of gun owners. Bondi’s initiative is a significant move in the ongoing dialogue surrounding gun rights in America.
This development is expected to resonate with gun rights advocates who have long argued against what they see as excessive government regulation. The task force will seek to balance the enforcement of gun laws with the protection of individual liberties. By focusing on compliance with constitutional standards, the initiative aims to strengthen Second Amendment protections.
Bondi’s announcement has been met with support from conservative circles, who view it as a necessary step to safeguard gun rights. The task force’s efforts will be closely watched as they unfold. As the administration continues its work, the task force will play a key role in shaping the future of gun rights in America.
The task force represents a strategic effort to address legal and policy challenges related to gun ownership. It is a continuation of the administration’s commitment to limiting government overreach in the realm of Second Amendment rights. As the task force begins its work, it will likely face both support and opposition from various stakeholders.
In the coming months, the task force’s activities will be crucial in defining the landscape of Second Amendment rights. The initiative represents a significant milestone in the ongoing debate over gun rights in the United States. Bondi’s leadership in this area will be pivotal in advancing the administration’s agenda on this critical issue.

Ahh, I have grown very old WAITNG for something positive to be enacted in law for we Americans’/’gun owner’s’ 2nd Amendment Rights. I have been a gun owner, user, since the early ’60s. Since that time, over decades, it has been a constant FIGHT against America’s government to preserve and protect that 2nd Amendment right!
Currently there is HB 38 (House Bill) running through congress, with many cosponsors. It will enact Constitutional Carry reciprocity nation-wide. I was informed that my congresswoman initially was not onboard with this bill. I immediately contacted her, and thankfully, she has now supports and cosponsored HB 38. Every gun owner should check with their representatives to ensure they also are supporting this historic legislation!
With all the various states’ CCW laws, many NOT having reciprocity with CCW license states, or Constitutional Carry states, I chose to ‘risk’ a felony weapons charge every time I entered a non-reciprocity state, and/or some ‘Gun FREE Zone area, rather than become a lamb, laying on the floor in the fetal position, waiting for some whack to get around to me to issue the coup de grace! And, I will never utter the lament as did my hero Susanna Gratia Hupp in her testimony before the Congress of The United States. Her testimony is riveting and ALL GUN OWNERS should view it, just go to YouTube and search her name!
How about Newscums law that wants credit card payments for ammunition to be reported to the state government another overreach of politicians doing their worst to deny American Citizens the right to have weapons and buy ammunition. These politicians fear Americans who own weapons as they are afraid that WE the PEOPLE will rise up and kick their asses out of the offices they hold in defiance of the PEOPLES VOICE and WILL. Remember this is a government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE, and for the PEOPLE ! ! ! ! !!! !
Yes, finally an administration that not only understands these words but abides by them; “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
And by God, they shall not be infringed!
