Apple’s Siri settlement is opening the door for certain iPhone buyers to seek cash after a long stretch of hype, frustration, and waiting. If the right model was bought during the covered period and the expected AI features never showed up as promised, a claim could be worth real money, with the final amount depending on how many people file.
It all comes down to a lawsuit over Apple’s promotion of Siri features tied to Apple Intelligence. The company denies doing anything wrong, but it agreed to a $250 million settlement fund instead of dragging the fight out even longer. That deal now gives eligible owners a path to file, and the list of qualifying phones is more specific than many people expect.
The settlement covers the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not included, which will catch some buyers off guard. To qualify, the phone must have been bought in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, and the claimant has to be the original purchaser using it for personal or business purposes.
There is one more key piece. A claim also requires confirming that the buyer expected certain Siri Apple Intelligence features at the time of purchase and did not get them as expected. That applies to individual owners and businesses alike, and the filing system has separate paths for each.
The payment amount is not fixed in stone. The settlement sets a base of $25 per eligible device, but if the number of valid claims comes in lower than expected, the payout could rise to as much as $95 per device.
If the claim count is high, the number could drop below $25 once the fund is divided up and court-approved costs are paid. That means the more eligible people who file, the thinner the slice gets. People with multiple qualifying devices may be able to submit separate claims for each one, which could make a difference if several phones were bought during the class period.
The claim window opened on Sept. 21, 2026, and the deadline is Dec. 21, 2026. Filing goes through the official settlement website, and the form asks for contact details along with information that helps prove the purchase or ownership.
It also helps to have the iPhone serial number ready before starting. That number can be found in Settings under General and About, and it may also appear on the original box or purchase paperwork. The process is meant to be straightforward, but accuracy matters because the settlement administrator will be checking claims before any money goes out.
A notice is helpful, but it is not required. People who received an email or postcard can file, and so can people who believe they are part of the settlement class even if no notice ever arrived. That said, the safest move is to avoid random links in texts or emails and go directly to the official settlement site, especially with scams so common around big payouts.
Timing is another thing to keep in mind. The court has set a final approval hearing for Feb. 24, 2027, and appeals could slow everything down after that. Payments will not arrive immediately after filing, since the settlement has to become effective first and the claims have to be processed.
If someone qualifies and does nothing, there is no check coming later by accident. The deadline to exclude yourself or object is also Dec. 21, 2026, so anyone who wants to preserve other legal options needs to pay close attention now. For everyone else, this is one of those moments where a few minutes of paperwork could mean money back for a phone that did not deliver the upgrade story buyers were led to expect.
