ICE Arrests Violent Illegal Immigrants Over Father’s Day Weekend

ICE agents spent Father’s Day weekend sweeping up a batch of noncitizens with violent criminal histories, according to a DHS statement shared with the press. The roundup included people convicted of attempted murder, child sexual abuse, rape, arson, robbery, and drug distribution, and DHS framed the operation as a public safety action meant to protect families. Officials emphasized the human cost of violent crime and the agency’s focus on removing criminal noncitizens already ordered for removal. The arrests were highlighted by DHS as part of ongoing enforcement work across multiple states.

“While Americans enjoyed Father’s Day weekend, ICE was working around the clock to remove attempted murderers, pedophiles, rapists, arsonists, and other public safety threats from our communities,” DHS acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stated. The department presented the roundup as a clear message that violent offenders will not be allowed to remain in communities. The timing was pointedly tied to a weekend when families gather to celebrate, underlining the contrast between celebration and the harms those crimes cause.

‘While families across the nation celebrated Father’s Day, DHS honored the fathers, children, and spouses forever changed by violent crimes committed by criminal illegal aliens.’

“We are removing criminals so another family does not have a preventable tragedy,” Bis continued. “Every day, ICE is committed to fighting for the victims of illegal alien crime and their families. They are our why.” The department portrayed the arrests as delivering accountability and preventing future harm. That language framed the enforcement work as a service to victims and a deterrent to further offenses.

Bis noted that President Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin “stand with Angel families.” The reference spotlights the administration’s focus on victims who have lost loved ones to crimes committed by noncitizens. DHS used that connection to emphasize political support for stepped-up removals in cases involving serious convictions.

The DHS release identified 15 individuals taken into custody over the weekend who had prior convictions while in the United States. Among those named was Jose Francisco-Amaya, an individual from Honduras with a prior conviction for attempted homicide in Rutherford County, Tennessee. ICE presented the arrests as targeted enforcement against people who already had a documented history of violent offenses.

Law enforcement also apprehended Daniel Ornelas-Garcia from Mexico, who has convictions for four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and for annoying or molesting children in Santa Clara, California. Carlos Leonardo Ruiz from Mexico, previously convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child in Auburn, California, was among those taken into custody as well. The agency underscored child sexual abuse convictions as a priority for removal.

Felipe Roque-Monje of Mexico, convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 in Pomona, California, was also arrested during the operation. Osman Lopez-Manzilla from Honduras faces a prior conviction for child fondling and related offenses in Bradenton, Florida. ICE highlighted those cases together to show a focus on repeated and grave child exploitation offenses.

Other arrests included Abulay Nian from Sierra Leone, previously convicted of rape, assault, and possession of forged instruments in Delaware, Ohio. Eduardo Arce-Aguilar from El Salvador has a conviction for forcible sexual abuse in Davis County, Utah. Alberto Garrido-Maurin of Cuba was listed with convictions including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, fraud, and firearm offenses in Detroit, Michigan.

Kiet Trung Tran of Vietnam was detained with a prior conviction for aggravated sexual assault in Dallas County, Texas, while Khaek Sisavath from Laos has an earlier record for robbery, armed criminal action, assault, and arson in St. Louis, Missouri. Multiple southern and midwestern jurisdictions were represented in the list, reflecting coordinated enforcement across state lines. ICE also named individuals with convictions for robbery, drug distribution, and weapons offenses among those arrested.

The DHS statement concluded by restating the holiday-weekend context: “While families across the nation celebrated Father’s Day, DHS honored the fathers, children, and spouses forever changed by violent crimes committed by criminal illegal aliens.” The agency framed the arrests as both enforcement and a form of recognition for victims. That closing line returned the focus to families harmed by violent crime while underscoring the administration’s enforcement priorities.
