Washington First Grade Teacher Arrested For Sex With Student

A first-grade teacher in Washington state was arrested after her husband told police she admitted to having sex with a teen, court documents say; the school district has placed the teacher on leave and law enforcement continues to investigate while parents and the small community seek answers.

Authorities say a 25-year-old teacher was taken into custody following allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor. The arrest came after the teacher’s husband reported that she had confessed to being involved with a student, providing screenshots and details that prompted a criminal inquiry.

Police said they “received information about an alleged inappropriate relationship between a student and the employee.” “Following an initial investigation, deputies developed probable cause supporting the allegations,” the statement added, and investigators say everyone involved is cooperating as the case moves forward.

Court records describe how the husband said the student and his wife exchanged messages and a voice call in which the teen admitted to an encounter. The husband also told deputies he had known the teen and his family for years, which is why he came forward with evidence he believed showed wrongdoing.

The alleged minor detailed how the meeting happened late at night and described an intimate encounter in a truck. “He said she started to ”get handsy,” and they had sex inside his truck and in the bed of the truck. He then dropped her off at about 4 a.m. near her house,” the records quote the teen saying.

According to court documents, the teacher at first denied the claims but later offered an apology and admitted she knew the situation was wrong, even instructing the teen not to tell anyone. The records also report that the teacher said she knew the boy was 16, but that he is “like one of their friends.”

The teacher had been employed at the local elementary school since the fall, and the student is a junior at the nearby high school, school officials confirmed to investigators. In a tight-knit rural district, the allegations have naturally stirred concern among families and staff who want clarity and safety for students.

Superintendent Tina Strong issued a statement: “At this time, St. John School District is aware of allegations involving a district employee that are currently being reviewed by law enforcement.” She also made clear the district is taking steps while the legal process plays out.

“The employee has been placed on leave and will not be on campus during this process,” Strong wrote. “The district is cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities and will also be conducting its own investigation into the allegations.” She emphasized that student safety is the district’s top priority.

“Our priority continues to be the safety, well-being, and support of our students and school community.” “We understand situations like this can create concern, questions, and emotions throughout a small community, and we ask that everyone approach this matter with care and respect while the appropriate process unfolds,” Strong added, urging professionalism from staff.

The accused appeared in county superior court facing a charge of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, and the criminal probe remains active. Officials have declined additional comment while investigators review evidence and determine next steps in both the criminal case and the district’s internal review.
