Micah Parsons is at the center of attention as the Dallas Cowboys gear up for the 2025 season. He’s wrapping up the last year of his rookie contract and has made quite an impression with 256 tackles, 63 tackles for a loss, and 52.5 sacks over 63 games. Parsons has been a standout edge rusher in the NFL since he joined the league in 2021.

Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ executive vice president and CEO, addressed the ongoing discussion about Parsons’ contract. Fans have been vocal, urging team owner Jerry Jones to secure Parsons’ future with the team. “It doesn’t change anything,” Stephen Jones mentioned, according to The Athletic. “We want to pay Micah too. He’s got to want to be paid.”

With top defensive players like Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt having secured lucrative contracts, it’s expected that Parsons will soon follow suit. The Cowboys have already extended contracts to other key players, such as tight end Jake Ferguson and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. But Parsons’ contract situation remains a hot topic.

Parsons has been open about his views on his contract situation. He pointed out in June that delaying his contract could end up costing the team more money. He mentioned how other teams have quickly secured their defensive stars and expressed a wish for the Cowboys to show similar urgency.

“If they don’t want me here, they don’t want me here,” Parsons said through The New York Post. “I’ll go about my business. I understand the nature of the business. Like I said, as long as I’m here and under contract, I’m gonna do what I have to do to perform at the highest level. But if this is the end, this is the end.”

Parsons has been participating in the Cowboys’ training camp, although he’s not practicing fully due to some back tightness. Despite this, he’s not holding out, showing his commitment to the team for now. There’s a sense of uncertainty, but he’s focused on performing at his best while he’s still under contract.

He expressed some confusion over his current situation, adding, “I just don’t understand.” His comments highlight the ongoing tension and the importance of securing his role with the Cowboys moving forward. The situation remains a critical storyline for the team and its fans.

As the Cowboys continue their preparations, the focus remains on how they will address Parsons’ contract concerns. His performance and presence are crucial for the team’s defense, making his contract a priority. The discussions continue, with fans eagerly awaiting a resolution that ensures Parsons stays with the team long-term.
