Federal Judge Orders Trump Admin to Reinstate Federally Funded Voice of America

In yet another example of the judiciary interfering with the rightful authority of President Trump, a federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to restructure and downsize the bloated and mismanaged Voice of America (VOA).

Judge Royce Lamberth, appointed decades ago during the Reagan era but now clearly aligned with entrenched Washington interests, ruled that the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) must continue operating under outdated guidelines, preventing necessary reforms that the Trump administration was attempting to implement.

The Trump White House had moved swiftly to drain the swamp inside USAGM, the agency that oversees VOA and other taxpayer-funded international broadcasters. Under Trump’s leadership, USAGM’s politically motivated leadership was finally being held accountable after years of bias, poor management, and open hostility to America First policies. President Trump correctly recognized that VOA — originally founded to promote American values abroad during World War II — had been hijacked by globalist, left-leaning bureaucrats who often sounded more like apologists for America’s enemies than champions of freedom.

Judge Lamberth, siding with career bureaucrats and liberal advocacy groups, ordered the administration to reverse course, reinstating more than 1,200 VOA staffers who had been placed on leave as part of badly needed reforms. His ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by VOA employees, backed by activist groups like Reporters Without Borders and the American Foreign Service Association — both organizations with a long track record of opposing Trump’s America First policies.

Rather than acknowledging the clear need for reform within VOA, Lamberth absurdly claimed that USAGM must maintain what he called its “essential functions” as an “authoritative source of news,” despite widespread evidence that VOA had strayed far from that mission. Under Obama-era leadership, VOA journalists were caught repeatedly pushing anti-Trump narratives, undermining U.S. interests abroad, and even giving sympathetic coverage to Communist China’s pandemic propaganda at the height of COVID-19.

The Trump administration had also ordered broader cuts across federal agencies bloated with progressive activists, including the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Yet it was the deep-seated corruption and political bias inside USAGM that made reforming VOA a priority. The lawsuit and the resulting court decision have temporarily halted that process, leaving American taxpayers on the hook for an agency many believe no longer serves U.S. interests effectively.

President Trump’s moves were not a reckless attempt to dismantle government media, as the dishonest mainstream media likes to frame it. Rather, it was a strategic effort to end the weaponization of taxpayer-funded institutions against the American people and their elected leaders. But entrenched forces within Washington, aided by sympathetic judges like Lamberth, continue to obstruct these much-needed efforts to restore integrity and accountability.

VOA, once a beacon of freedom broadcasting truthful news behind the Iron Curtain, has been compromised by partisan operators who believe their role is to oppose conservative leadership at home and abroad. The Trump administration, to its credit, recognized this problem and attempted to root it out. Sadly, the court’s ruling ensures that VOA remains, for now, another cog in the globalist media machine — one that has too often prioritized left-wing talking points over American interests.

The decision has emboldened Trump’s critics, who are trying to spin this as a “victory for press freedom.” In reality, it is a setback for reform, transparency, and restoring proper American leadership to institutions that have lost their way. Groups like Reporters Without Borders have repeatedly attacked Trump’s efforts to expose fake news and media bias, making their involvement in this case unsurprising.

Meanwhile, the broader fight between President Trump’s America First movement and the Washington establishment continues. The deep state’s loyalty to its entrenched bureaucracy over the will of the American people remains a serious threat to true democratic governance. Judges, agencies, and activist organizations continue to resist even modest attempts to return government institutions to their proper purpose — serving the nation, not undermining it from within.

At the center of this controversy remains the undeniable fact that VOA has drifted far from its founding mission. Originally designed as a tool to combat totalitarianism and spread freedom during the Cold War, VOA has morphed into just another voice parroting leftist dogma and attacking Trump’s foreign and domestic achievements. Whether it was downplaying the historic Abraham Accords, spreading fear during Trump’s robust COVID response, or amplifying anti-American narratives on the world stage, VOA’s recent track record speaks for itself.

President Trump’s critics will hail this court decision as a victory, but patriots across the country see it for what it is: another desperate attempt by the entrenched elite to protect their failing institutions from much-needed accountability. As legal battles continue, America First advocates are calling for Congress and future administrations to take a hard look at how agencies like USAGM are operating and to demand loyalty not to globalist ideologies, but to the Constitution and the American people.

The fight for honest, accountable media — free from deep-state corruption and left-wing bias — is far from over. President Trump’s efforts to shine a light on these institutions have awakened millions of Americans to the deep rot inside the bureaucratic state. And while setbacks like Judge Lamberth’s ruling are frustrating, they only underscore the urgency of continuing the battle to reclaim America’s institutions from those who have betrayed their original missions.
