He noted her family fled Somalia during a civil war and painted that country as an example of what happens when bad governance takes hold. Then he asked pointed questions in a tone meant to highlight contrast and consequence: “Is she originally from Somalia?” he asked a reporter, who confirmed. “So, how are they doing? How’s their government? Do they have a president? Do they have a council? Do they have anything? Do they have police?”
