Welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing, a brisk recap of the stories that exploded this week and why the left keeps making our job easy. We sift through the noise so you can see the pattern: performative outrage, sloppy narratives, and the predictable media spin. Pour a cup of coffee, settle in, and let’s cut through the chaos.
#1 – Ricky Gervais Has the Perfect Reply to Actress’ Remarks About ICE and Gaza at Emmys — by Nick Arama
She wants to “Free Palestine” – even as they censor her. And there is no Palestine. In another ironic twist, in doing so, Quds also blocked what appeared to be a “red hand” pin that she was wearing in support. Some in Hollywood have worn such a pin in support of a ceasefire in Gaza. But the red hand has also been associated with the lynching of Jews in Ramallah – I wonder if she knows that. She also appeared to have difficulty enunciating what she was trying to say, which makes sense since she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
But in the wake of Einbinder’s actions, Ricky Gervais had the perfect comment. He laughed and said, “They’re still not listening,” while posting the famous comment he made at the 2020 Golden Globes about such displays at award shows.
#2 – Schumer Melts Down Over Kimmel Being Preempted, Trips Over Own Words and Gets Leveled by Maria Bartiromo — by Nick Arama
“It is outrageous, it’s a page right out of Xi’s playbook,” Schumer ranted, referencing China’s Communist leader, Xi Jinping. “This is just despicable and disgusting, and against Democratic values.” He claimed “Trump and his allies” wanted to shut down speech they didn’t like, and this was what “autocracies do.” “I am just outraged by it – this is what dictators do. This is what Xi would do. This is what Putin would do.”
It was ABC and its affiliates that pulled the show. You have a right to speak, but you don’t have a right to no consequences from the people who put you on the air. They can hold you to account for what you say.
We’ve been talking about harmful rhetoric after Kirk’s assassination, and there Schumer is already back to “dictator” after only eight days since Kirk’s killing. They refuse to stop. And ironically, Schumer is blaming Trump, just as Kimmel seemed to be trying to put the killing on MAGA.
#3 – As the Left-Wing Narrative Around the Kirk Shooter Fully Collapses, the Press Goes Full Bird Box — by Bonchie
With the evidence now overwhelming, how has the left shifted its narrative? Hilariously, we are now being told that, yeah, the roommate is trans, but he’s a hero for helping “catch the shooter,” and that the shooter is still “a heterosexual white dude” even though he was dating…a guy.
You can’t make this stuff up. Everything is so stupid, and it’s only going to get worse. There will be no introspection by anyone on the left, from the press to influencers like the one above. They aren’t going to change and suddenly start telling the truth because the truth is harmful to their politics. That they are willing to act this way even in the aftermath of a tragic political assassination shows the level of depravity we are dealing with.
#4 – Senator John Kennedy Levels Reporter Who Gushed Over Charlie Kirk Assassin’s ‘Loving’ Messages — by Rusty Weiss
Kirk had been wrongfully branded a “fascist” repeatedly on left-wing social media platforms leading up to, and even after, his violent assassination.
And yet, the first thing Gutman does is to try to humanize his killer. Kennedy makes the much bigger point that media – legacy and/or social – is the problem with the state of this country today.
“Some of this is the fault of the media. A lot of it is the fault of social media. Let’s face it. Social media has lowered the cost of being an a-hole,” Kennedy observed. “People do things on social media that they would never do to each other’s face. And it’s become just rage bait.”
#5 – Tipping Point: Chaos Erupts on Capitol Hill After Tlaib’s Dangerous Comments About Republicans — by Katie Jerkovich
Utter chaos erupted on Capitol Hill when Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) appeared to call the Republicans fascists, and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) hit back because he, like so many of us following Charlie Kirk’s assassination by a suspect influenced by this hateful leftist ideology, has had it.
During a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on Wednesday to discuss President Donald Trump’s federalization of local law enforcement, including in Washington, D.C., Tlaib refused to yield after her time was well over and continued to go on and on about how bad Trump’s “fascist takeover” was.
