ICE Arrests Criminal Illegal Aliens, Face Deportation

Federal immigration agents announced a roundup of dangerous criminal illegal aliens this week, highlighting arrests from Texas to New York and stressing that enforcement will continue. The sweep included a man accused of running an unlicensed dental operation and others convicted of violent or sexual crimes. Officials framed the arrests as part of a broader effort to remove people who threaten public safety. The report lays out specific cases that underscore why enforcement remains a priority for those who want secure borders and safe communities.

ICE agents took Jose Alfredo Uzeta into custody after prior convictions in Harris County for violations related to practicing dentistry without a license and indecent assault. Local reporting from 2023 accused Uzeta of running an unlicensed dental operation for about two decades and treating multiple patients daily. One former patient reported inappropriate sexual contact during a visit, which triggered a police investigation that exposed the illegal practice. The case illustrates how unregulated medical schemes can prey on people who trust those presenting as professionals.

“For 20 years, Uzeta preyed on vulnerable Americans, charging for dental procedures he had absolutely no business of performing. Worse, he sexually violated one of his patients who trusted him,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated. “In addition to this monster, ICE also arrested child predators, murderers, and violent assailants — ALL of them WILL be deported, never to return and harm another American AGAIN,” McLaughlin added. That blunt message from DHS officials reflects a Republican view that enforcement must be decisive and public safety prioritized. The language also signals that removals will follow convictions and deportability determinations.

Another arrest named by federal agencies was Mahmoud Telfah, who faces convictions tied to child solicitation and attempted sexual exploitation in New Mexico. Court documents say he tried to solicit sex from someone he believed was a 15-year-old, but who was an undercover detective. Those charges resulted from an operation designed to catch adults attempting to exploit minors online and in person. The case highlights the dangers posed by individuals who use digital platforms to target children.

The DHS release also named Hamidou Diallo, who was arrested after a prior murder conviction in New York. Law enforcement officials emphasized that people convicted of serious violent crimes are priorities for removal when they are in the country illegally. Capturing individuals with violent criminal histories and moving them through the deportation process is presented as both common-sense and necessary to protect communities. Officials say coordination between local prosecutors and federal immigration agents makes those outcomes possible.

Santos Guevara-Carrero was another name listed, tied to a manslaughter conviction in New York. The report noted federal action to detain and process him for removal based on that conviction. Agencies argue that when noncitizens commit the most serious offenses, removal from the country is the right response to reduce risk. The detained list also included individuals with convictions connected to assault and attacks on officers.

Marcos Leon-Sorto, arrested in Texas, carries convictions for aggravated assault causing significant bodily injury and assault on a peace officer or judge. Federal authorities say his case is an example of someone whose criminal conduct makes them a clear candidate for deportation. Advocates for tougher immigration enforcement point to cases like this as evidence that breaking the law should lead to removal rather than continued residence. Officials say this enforcement approach protects victims and reduces recidivism by removing those who repeatedly commit violent crimes.

Across the cases listed, federal authorities emphasized a mix of criminal convictions and immigration violations as the basis for arrests. Republican policymakers will argue these arrests prove why strict enforcement and clear deportation policies are essential. The message from DHS and ICE is straightforward: those who commit serious crimes and remain in the country illegally will face removal. For officials focused on law and order, these operations are tactical reminders that enforcement is an ongoing priority, not a one-off event.
