Lionel Messi’s Sunreef Yacht Stuns With Speed, Luxury, Space

Lionel Messi’s new Sunreef Ultima 88 is the kind of yacht that makes even seasoned luxury watchers do a double take. It blends big-boat comfort with catamaran speed, folds in clever design touches, and still manages to feel sleek instead of bloated.

At more than 93 feet long and over 30 feet wide, the Ultima 88 has serious presence without looking like a floating tower. The broad multihull layout gives it the kind of stability and space that make long days on the water feel easy, while the shallow draft opens up access to areas many larger yachts cannot reach. That combination is a big part of the appeal, especially for someone who wants privacy, comfort, and room to move.

Price-wise, the yacht sits in a rarefied lane, though not the wildest one in celebrity boating. Listed at more than $10.3 million, it reflects the kind of craftsmanship and customization that comes with a high-end build, but the real draw is how much yacht it packs into its footprint. Instead of chasing sheer size for its own sake, the Ultima 88 aims for a sharper balance of luxury and performance.

That performance angle is a big part of what makes the vessel stand out. Even with multiple deck levels, guest spaces, and generous living areas, the yacht can hit a top speed of 26 knots, which is no small feat for a craft built around comfort.

Sunreef also gives buyers options that push the concept further, including hybrid propulsion and hydrofoil assistance. Those touches are about more than bragging rights, since they can improve efficiency and reduce drag in ways that matter on the open water. For anyone drawn to a yacht that feels modern instead of merely expensive, that engineering matters just as much as the polished finishes.

Inside, the Ultima 88 leans hard into livability. The catamaran design naturally allows for wider lounges, better headroom, and cabins that feel less cramped than what is often found on monohulls of similar length. That extra volume changes the whole mood of the yacht, turning it into a space built for lingering instead of just passing through.

The master stateroom gets special treatment, reached by its own carbon-fiber staircase and finished with a layout that feels far more like a high-end suite than a typical boat cabin. It includes an ensuite bath, a walk-in closet, and enough room around the bed to avoid that tight, boxed-in feeling many yachts struggle with. The oversized windows help flood the space with daylight and water views, which makes the room feel even larger.

One of the most interesting tricks in that cabin is the magic glass, which can shift from clear to translucent at the touch of a button. It is a small detail with a big effect, giving privacy without shutting out natural light or the view. That kind of feature is exactly where luxury yacht design gets clever, not just flashy.

The flybridge may be the most inviting place aboard, though, because it mixes open-air lounging with a commanding view. It can be arranged with different furniture setups and even fitted with a full-size hot tub, turning the upper deck into a social zone that still feels relaxed. With the helm placed there as well, navigation comes with a panoramic backdrop that most drivers will never experience in anything else they own.

Then there is the custom 66-inch ultra-wide display at the helm, which serves as the yacht’s command center. It handles monitoring and control functions in a single, sweeping setup that fits the boat’s modern personality. On a vessel like this, the tech is not just there to impress, because it is built into how the yacht actually works from one end to the other.
