Los Angeles is getting ready for a gas station that aims to feel more like a polished neighborhood stop than a quick fuel run. Maggie’s Refuel is planning its Beverly Hills flagship for 2027, and the concept mixes premium convenience, curated food, and a stronger hospitality vibe than the average pump-and-go setup. It is an unusual move for a city already packed with high-end everything, but it could also set a new tone for what a modern station can be.

The new location will sit alongside an existing Union 76 station, which matters because that property is already tied to the area’s look and history. The site is known for its midcentury modern design and sweeping canopy, so the plan is not about bulldozing a landmark and starting from scratch. Instead, the idea is to build around it and treat the setting like part of the appeal, not an obstacle.

That approach gives Maggie’s Refuel a different kind of identity right away. Beverly Hills has no shortage of sleek storefronts and carefully designed spaces, but a luxury gas station is still a fresh twist. If the concept lands with local drivers, it could turn into something bigger across the West Coast.

The man behind the project is restaurateur Alex Canter, a fourth-generation member of the family behind Canter’s Deli. That background shows up in the way he talks about the business, which leans more toward service and atmosphere than the usual convenience-store routine. The pitch is simple enough: make people want to stay a little longer instead of rushing out the door.

Fuel will obviously still be part of the equation, but Maggie’s is being built with a much broader experience in mind. The station is expected to include EV charging too, which means some drivers may spend even more time there than they planned. For a place built around lingering, that is probably exactly the point.

The food and drink lineup is where the concept starts to feel especially ambitious. Customers should still find standard gas-station staples like soda and chips, but those basics will share space with snacks from emerging food brands and a more selective menu overall. On top of that, the plan includes fresh juices, craft lattes, ceremonial-grade matcha, artisan soft-serve ice cream, and pastries sourced from Beverly Hills bakeries.

That kind of mix is not just about sounding fancy. It is a clear attempt to turn a routine errand into a small experience, something closer to a curated café stop than a place you only visit when your tank is empty. For people in a hurry, the basics will still be there, but the station is clearly aiming at a customer who wants a little more.

There is also an app involved, which fits the broader move toward convenience without sacrificing the premium feel. It will let customers order drinks and snacks before arriving, which could make the whole stop faster for regulars and easier for anyone juggling a packed day. Maggie’s is also planning customer rewards, a familiar tactic that can help a new concept build loyalty quickly.

Local partnerships are part of the pitch as well, and that could matter just as much as the menu. Canter has said he wants to work with nearby restaurants to create exclusive offerings, which gives the station a better shot at feeling connected to the community instead of dropped in as a gimmick. That mix of neighborhood flavor and upscale branding may be the detail that keeps it from feeling like just another polished experiment.

For now, the big question is whether drivers will embrace a gas station that asks them to expect more than gasoline and a checkout counter. Beverly Hills has a habit of making luxury look normal, so this may be one of the few places where the idea can actually fit. If it works, the rest of the region may start looking at the corner fuel stop in a very different way.
