‘Real Housewives’ Stars Wendy, Eddie Osefo Arrested On Felony Fraud Charges

“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were reportedly arrested Thursday in Maryland on felony fraud charges. Authorities say the couple was taken into custody by Carroll County deputies and processed at a local booking facility. Local outlets immediately published the charging details supplied by county law enforcement.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said Wendy faces 15 counts, including seven felony counts for providing false or misleading information involving more than $300, seven related misdemeanors, and one misdemeanor count of making a false statement to an officer. Eddie faces 18 charges, nine of which are felonies, according to the charging information released by the county. Officials described the counts as tied to the same insured-loss incident under investigation.

Both were expected to be released after posting $50,000 bond each, authorities reported. The bond amount was set while prosecutors and investigators continued to assemble the case. Media reports said the bond terms would allow the couple to await further proceedings outside custody.

Police allege the couple reported a burglary at their home in April 2024, claiming their bedroom had been ransacked after returning from a trip to Jamaica. Investigators say the Osefos told officers their insurer covered only $450,000 in personal property losses tied to the claim. Those statements now form the core of the fraud-related counts being pursued by county prosecutors.

The Osefos reported several designer handbags and items of jewelry among the stolen property, according to media reports. Deputies later pointed to a social media post in which Wendy appeared to be wearing a diamond ring that had been listed as missing in the claim. That social-media evidence was noted in investigators’ summaries as a potential inconsistency with the theft report.

Investigators say many of the items the couple claimed were stolen had actually been purchased and returned for full refunds before the alleged break-in, according to those same reports. That sequence of purchases and refunds is cited in multiple counts alleging false reporting to both law enforcement and the insurer. Prosecutors indicated they will examine transaction receipts and return records as part of building their case.

Images released with booking records show the couple in matching gray T-shirts and smiling at the time they were photographed in custody. Those mugshots have circulated across social platforms and drew immediate attention to the case amid wider media coverage.

Wendy Osefo joined “The Real Housewives of Potomac” in 2020 and earlier served as a political commentator on CNN. Her television profile and media background have made the developments particularly visible to entertainment and news audiences.
