Tom Homan Discloses ICE’s First-Day Illegal Immigrant Arrest Count Under Trump Administration

Tom Homan, who served as President Trump’s border czar, shared some significant developments with Fox News regarding the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On the first full day of the new administration, ICE agents arrested over 300 illegal immigrants nationwide. This operation marks a shift from the previous administration’s policies, aligning with the expectations of many American voters who supported Trump’s return to office.

Fox News host Lawrence Jones inquired about the criteria for ICE interventions. Homan clarified, stating, “First, to be in the country illegally, first of all. I mean, there’s nothing in the immigration law that says you’ve got to be convicted of a serious crime to be removed under the INA. So if you’re in the country illegally, ICE can visit you.” This indicates a return to stricter enforcement of immigration laws compared to previous years.

Homan emphasized that while all illegal immigrants are now subject to deportation, the administration is prioritizing resources to target those who pose public safety threats. He mentioned, “And just yesterday, in the last 24 hours, ICE arrested over 308 serious criminals. Some of them were murderers. Some of them were rapists. Some of them raped a child. Some were a sexual assault of a child. So ICE is doing their job, and they’re prioritizing just as the president said they would. So ICE is performing excellent right now out in the field. And they’re going to continue every day.”

The cost of fully implementing this extensive deportation operation is anticipated to be substantial. Homan has informed lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the operation will require at least $88 billion due to the large scale of the issue. Despite opposition from some Democrat-led states, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is taking proactive steps to support the Trump administration’s efforts.

Governor DeSantis is urging the Florida legislature to convene a special session to pass measures that will assist federal immigration enforcement. He is advocating for funding to enable state and local law enforcement agencies to collaborate with federal agents. Additionally, he seeks approval for the use of state facilities to house those awaiting deportation and for state resources to facilitate the return of illegal immigrants to their home countries.

In his remarks, DeSantis underscored the mandate that accompanied Trump’s election, stating, “Trump was elected with a mandate to stop illegal immigration and deport illegal aliens already in our country. State and local officials in Florida will actively facilitate the Trump Administration’s policies against illegal immigration, and to do that, we need to immediately set aside and approve the necessary funding and resources now.”

The actions being taken in Florida reflect a broader commitment to enforcing immigration laws and addressing the challenges posed by illegal immigration. The state’s collaboration with federal authorities is seen as a model for other states that support these policies.

The renewed focus on immigration enforcement has been met with enthusiasm by those who believe strict immigration policies are essential for national security and public safety. Supporters argue that these measures ensure that the rule of law is upheld and that communities are protected from individuals who may pose a threat.

While the debate over immigration policy continues, the actions of the Trump administration and supportive states like Florida highlight a clear stance on the issue. The commitment to enforcing immigration laws remains strong, with a focus on targeting those deemed to be public safety threats.

As the administration proceeds with its immigration enforcement agenda, it is likely to face both support and opposition. However, the determination to carry out these policies is evident in the actions being taken at both federal and state levels.

The collaboration between state and federal agencies is expected to be a key element in the success of the enforcement strategy. States that align with the administration’s goals are likely to play a crucial role in the implementation of immigration policies.

The developments in immigration enforcement underscore the importance of cooperation between different levels of government. This partnership is seen as vital in achieving the objectives set forth by the administration regarding immigration control.

As the situation unfolds, it will be important to monitor how these policies are implemented and the impact they have on communities across the nation.

The ongoing dialogue surrounding immigration will continue to shape the political landscape, reflecting the diverse perspectives on this critical issue.
