ABC News Hits the Panic Button After Sworn Statement Proving the Debate Was Rigged, David Muir Does Damage Control

ABC News is facing mounting backlash following its September 10 presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The criticism has intensified after a whistleblower from ABC News revealed allegations of bias in favor of Harris. These claims center around “assurances” given to the Harris campaign days before the event, sparking widespread controversy.

David Muir, anchor of ABC’s “World News Tonight” and co-moderator of the debate, has since been defending his performance as the debate’s fallout has seemingly impacted his show’s ratings, which have seen a 12% drop in viewership.

Despite the network’s defense, the whistleblower’s claims have continued to raise questions about fairness during the debate.

A viral tweet, posted nearly a week before the debate, alleged that ABC News had given Harris assurances that she would be favored during the event.

This was later supported by the whistleblower’s sworn affidavit, claiming the network coordinated with the Harris campaign in multiple ways, including mic control to reduce interruptions and the handling of fact-checking.

CNN also reported that ABC News promised the Harris campaign that moderators would help manage any potential crosstalk between Harris and Trump.

ABC further insisted that the network had not broken any rules, stating that both campaigns agreed on the terms of the debate and denying that Harris received any advance questions.

However, critics have pointed out that the affidavit never accused ABC of providing exact questions but alleged other forms of preferential treatment.

According to the whistleblower, ABC allowed Harris’s team to influence certain aspects of the debate.

These include providing Harris with sample questions resembling those she would face during the event and adjusting podium arrangements to minimize the visual height difference between her and Trump.

Additionally, it was claimed that fact-checking efforts were focused solely on Trump, while Harris was not scrutinized to the same degree.

The whistleblower also asserted that ABC and Harris’s campaign held discussions without Trump’s campaign representatives present, which goes against standard debate rules.

Further allegations suggested Harris’s team imposed restrictions on topics, such as her tenure as California Attorney General, and questions about President Biden’s health.

On September 15, an affidavit was released by the whistleblower, who swore under penalty of perjury that ABC coordinated with Harris’s team to ensure favorable conditions during the debate.

The whistleblower also highlighted a bias against Trump within ABC, where employees allegedly feared retribution for expressing favorable opinions of him.

David Muir downplayed the controversy, describing the post-debate criticism as “just noise.” Speaking on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Mark,” he defended his role, emphasizing the importance of focusing on critical issues such as the economy, the border crisis, and reproductive rights.

However, critics argue that Muir’s attempt to brush off the controversy coincides with the sharp decline in his show’s ratings, further suggesting dissatisfaction among viewers.

As ABC News faces these growing accusations, the controversy over its handling of the debate remains in the spotlight, with many questioning the network’s integrity in moderating the high-stakes presidential event.
