U.S. women’s national soccer team star Mallory Swanson and her husband, Dansby Swanson, who plays shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, are thrilled to announce they are expecting their first child. They shared the exciting news on Instagram, capturing a joyful moment with photos and the caption, “Our greatest blessing.” Mallory, who is 27, was part of the victorious U.S. team that clinched the 2019 Women’s World Cup and also snagged the gold medal at last summer’s Paris Olympics, where she scored the only goal in the 1-0 win against Brazil.

This season, Mallory hasn’t taken the field for her club, the Chicago Stars in the National Women’s Soccer League. She’s been on a break due to personal reasons, which are now joyfully apparent. Her husband, Dansby, 31, is no stranger to accolades himself. A two-time All-Star, he celebrated a World Series win with the Atlanta Braves in 2021 and has secured Gold Glove awards for two consecutive years, 2022 and 2023.

Interestingly, Mallory’s teammate from the Olympic team, Sophia Wilson, is also on the journey to parenthood. Sophia and her husband, Michael Wilson, who catches passes for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL, are expecting their first child too. It seems like a season of joyful news for these athletes and their families.

Mallory’s break from the field has been notable, as fans eagerly await her return to the Chicago Stars. Her contributions to her teams have always been significant, and her absence this season has been felt. Meanwhile, Dansby continues to make waves in the MLB, building on his impressive career with the Cubs.

The Swansons’ announcement adds a personal touch to the sports world, reminding fans and fellow athletes alike of the joys and milestones beyond the game. Their journey together as a couple and now as expecting parents is celebrated by many. Supporters from both the soccer and baseball communities have shared their excitement and well-wishes for the couple.

These announcements bring a unique perspective to the lives of professional athletes, showing that behind every victory and medal, there are personal stories and moments that matter. The Swansons, while known for their athletic prowess, are now stepping into a new chapter filled with even more promise.

It’s a beautiful reminder that life off the field can be as fulfilling and exciting as the competitions and championships. The Swansons’ news has been met with warmth and congratulations, as they prepare to welcome a new member to their family. Their story is one that resonates deeply with fans, showing the human side of those we often see only in the spotlight.
