Sonia Sotomayor, a Supreme Court justice nominated by Obama and known for her liberal views, recently expressed frustration with the conservative wing of the court.
She claimed that their rulings consistently move the country to the ideological right and personally traumatize her.
However, it begs the question: Do Justices Clarence Thomas and Kavanaugh feel similarly traumatized when they are accused by Democrats and the media?
Thomas has been accused of being a corrupt criminal, while Kavanaugh faced accusations of being a rapist.
It’s worth considering whether Sotomayor hears herself in light of these situations.
According to The Hill, during an appearance at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Sotomayor admitted to feeling daily frustration due to conservative rulings.
She described every loss as traumatic but emphasized that she still gets up the next morning.
The audience responded with applause.
During her speech, she criticized her “originalist colleagues” for coming up with new interpretations of the Constitution that challenge established rulings.
With a 6-3 conservative court, significant aspects of everyday life have been affected, including overturning federal abortion rights and ruling affirmative action in colleges unconstitutional.
If she wants to make policy, she’s in the wrong profession.
This is not what SCOTUS is supposed to do. If Sotomayor wanted to move the arc of the universe toward justice she should have run for office. https://t.co/fHKqVqfceF

If she aspires to be a politician, it would be advisable for her to step down from her position as a judge and pursue an elected office. The responsibilities and expectations of being a politician are distinct from those of a judge.
