Dems Drop $1 Million Funding Plan for LGBT ‘Fetish’ Center

by Chelsea Betonie

A plan by Democratic members of Congress to allocate $1 million in taxpayer funds to an LGBT “fetish” center in Philadelphia was thwarted by fellow Democrats.

The $1 million earmark for the LGBTQ Center was brought into question by the Libs of TikTok channel on X  “which boasts rooms to try BDSM and s*x f*tishes and hosts BDSM and s*x k*nbk parties…”

Consequently, Democratic senators John Fetterman and Bob Casey penned a letter requesting the removal of funds from a pending spending bill in Congress.

The Washington Times described the situation as an embarrassment that Congress had hoped to prevent, as lawmakers engaged in earmarking – a practice where they allocate funds for specific projects in their constituencies.

Earmarks, which had been prohibited by Republicans some years ago but reinstated by Democrats in 2021, have been a long-standing method of funding allocation.

They still face opposition from conservatives. “We cannot support forcing Americans to fund earmarks that waste $1 million on an ‘environmental justice center’ or $4 million on a Green New Deal police station while 60% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck because of reckless government spending,” charged Ryan Walker, executive vice president at Heritage Action.

The comprehensive legislation currently under consideration in the Senate includes funding allocations for various government departments and programs, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, highways, food stamps, the FBI, the EPA, and more.

On X date, the Philadelphia Center received attention for a perceived advertisement promoting a “play party.”

According to a report from Them, a letter was issued requesting the withdrawal of funding. However, following criticism from liberal groups, Fetterman retracted this statement and clarified that the letter was drafted by staff members.

Fetterman expressed his commitment to promptly reinstating $1 million in funding to the “fetish” center.

“The senators’ about-face came mere hours after Chaya Raichik, founder of the anti-LGBTQ+ advocacy group ‘Libs of TikTok,’ posted about the William Way Center on social media. Raichik alleged that the center ‘boasts rooms to try BDSM and s*x f*tishes,’ referring to the center’s partnership with ‘The Aviary,’ a local kink group that has hosted semi-monthly events in the center for nearly a decade.”

Casey’s office remained steadfast in their support of the change, emphasizing the need for the “utmost scrutiny” when it comes to projects funded by taxpayer money.

Fetterman acknowledged his support for the change but suggested that removing the funding might be necessary for the bill to pass.

“The choice was either to pull it or watch it get stripped out, attacked by Republicans, and ultimately killed,” he explained.

According to The Philly Voice, officials at the center refuted any claims of issues with activities at their facility. However, the report highlighted an additional complication:

“Meanwhile, over the weekend, Darius McLean, the chief operating officer of the William Way Center, and his wife, Celena Morrison, the executive director of the city’s Office of LGBT Affairs, were arrested after a traffic stop. The state trooper involved has been placed on restricted duty while the incident is investigated. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker called the incident ‘very concerning.”

Jesse Watters broke down a but if the bill:

When is congress going to learn that earmarks are not wanted by most of this country. Only the crooks want earmarks because they are getting something out of them. Like a $150,000 bus stop??? If his is researched, it will cost $15,000 for the bus stop and $135,000 into some politician’s pocket. And sex testing in a museum???
What has happened to our politicians that they think this is needed???
