Americans Reclaim Support For Israel, Rally Behind IDF

America’s national security depends on strong allies, and Israel stands out as the most important one. This piece explains why support for Israel is a strategic necessity, how propaganda has shaken opinion, and why Israel’s military, intelligence and tech partnership with the U.S. matters for the future of the West.

Recent polling shows support for Israel dipped dramatically during intense fighting and online campaigns, then started to recover. That slump should alarm any realist who understands global rivalries, because public opinion matters when it comes to sustaining strategic commitments. The “information war” pushed sympathy down among younger Americans, but facts about power and partnership are what really count.

The conflict that followed the Hamas attack and the sustained IDF response exposed a wider fight over narratives, not just territory. Images of devastation fed a campaign that confused many about who poses the real threat to freedom. For conservatives, this episode reinforced that moral clarity alone will not protect U.S. interests; strategic clarity must guide policy.

Israel matters to America because it is a reliable, capable ally that shares the broader interests of democratic nations. As a nuclear-capable state with advanced intelligence and a dynamic tech sector, Israel enhances U.S. deterrence and defense in ways few others can. Its cooperation with American research and development strengthens our joint ability to face missile and cyber threats.

The global contest is no abstraction. The People’s Republic of China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and their partners form a network that rejects a rules-based order. That “anti-West” axis pursues regional domination and erodes the freedoms that underpin Western prosperity. Standing with Israel is part of a broader posture of deterrence against those who would redraw maps by force.

We should be blunt about national interest. Support for Israel is not merely sentimental or sectarian, it is strategic. Whether in missile defense like Iron Dome, shared intelligence from agencies such as Mossad, or fast-moving commercial tech born from Israeli startups, the country is an engine of capability that augments American power.

Europe and old allies remain important but cannot replace Israel’s unique contributions. Some Western nations slide toward bureaucratic stagnation and weaker defense postures. That makes Israel’s role even more central as a partner that invests in practical defenses and innovative deterrence on the ground and in the lab.

Propaganda and ignorance fueled some anti-Israel sentiment, and that has real consequences for policy and morale. Declaring oneself “anti-Zionist” ignores history and the realities of national self-determination. Open hostility and antisemitism harm the cause of liberty and strengthen America’s adversaries.

“In vain are we loyal citizens,” Theodore Herzl declared, capturing a grim warning about vulnerability to bigotry. That line matters because it reminds us why a Jewish state was created and why its security is tied to the security of democratic nations. Israel’s existence and resilience matter to Americans who want durable, reliable partners in a dangerous world.

U.S. leaders should treat support for Israel as a core national security priority, not a political afterthought. Strong alliances, backed by technology, intelligence sharing and common values, are the best hedge against a rising authoritarian bloc. For Republicans who prize strength and sovereignty, backing Israel is both moral and practical, and it should be central to a strategy that keeps America and the West safe.
